VWL at 7 month window???

I am trying to plan a Vero beach/WDW vacation in the summer of 2012. Not sure if it will be July or August. We are new members and our home resort is AKV.

Has anyone had any luck booking VWL at the 7 month window???Is it better to request a 1BR vs. a studio? I really want to stay at this resort and am just wondering if folks have had luck getting in when it isn't their home resort.

We were able to get a 2 bdrm and studio at the 7 month window at VWL for this May. We also called a couple of weeks ago and were able to add two nights to the studio room as well. We have owned DVC for almost 8 years and this is the first time we have ever gotten into VWL. Can't help with Vero.

In 2009, I got a studio at VWL for 3 nights mid August in April (about 4 months out).

I think at the 7 month mark, you have a good chance.

Obviously, you have the correct course of action--book your home 11 months out, then see what is available come July or August. Your odds get better the more flexible on dates that you are. Over the past several years, I've been able to book VWL at the 7-month out point at various times during the year. If nothing is available at VWL at the 7-month point, you can go on two waitlists, so do one for 1BR and one for a studio. There is never a guarantee, naturally, but I think your odds of snagging something at VWL is at least 50-50. Good luck!

Got 2 BR at Vero 7 mos out last summer! Loved it! Fabulous trip!

Got 2 BR Wilderness Lodge 5 mos out for this summer! Hopefully, we will enjoy it as much as Vero and Kidani last summer!

Well this is at least encouraging.

I know nothing is a guarantee and as long as I am at WDW I will be happy! I just did a solo trip to WL and fell in love. So now I want to go with my husband and boys, but we bought DVC in Feb. so we can try VWL.

I am happy to hear about Vero beach too. It looks beautiful and relaxing so I think it would be great to add onto a WDW vacation for some true relaxation.

Now I just have to figure out when....Late August is less points so I am thinking that is a better option.

Got a studio for mid-late Aug this year at 7 mos. Changed to a one bedroom just recently. There were no two bedrooms available however.

We were unable to get our home resort (BLT). We were looking for a room from 29MAR-06APR, but didn't decide to go until late October. We were able to get VWL at six months out.

Having just returned, we absolutely loved VWL. It is gorgeous!
