VROOM VROOM code with Alamo

Ok.....here's what I always recommend. If you aren't sure if you are eligible to use a code/discount, check and see, with the company. Chances are pretty good that if you have any doubts, you probably aren't entitled to use it! Most of us fully realize what discounts we can use. If you try to use one that you aren't eligible for, you may have no problems at the rental counter. On the other hand, the agent may hold to the exact rules and you are now stuck paying full price!!!
Buyer beware.

I just rented a car with Alamo using the Vroom Vroom code from 2/12-2/17. Before arriving I called the Alamo location at MCO and confirmed I could use the code and that there were no restrictions. The agent confirmed that this was the case. I got a mid-size rental for $210 total for this time period using the code. There were no issues, and when we returned the car we were charged exactly that. I was not worried about the insurance factor, as I booked the rental through my credit card which has rental car insurance included. If in doubt, just call and confirm.

I also had a National reservation for the same time period that I held on to until we picked up our Alamo rental and there were no problems. I wanted to have the National rental JUST in case as a back-up in case there were any problems (that would have been $315). Once we were in the Alamo rental and on our way to Disney I called National and cancelled the reservation with no penalty or charges.

Belle...did you book using the vroom vroom site or did you do it via Alamo?

If through Alamo, I'm afraid that agent was gravely mistaken and gave you wrong information. It's already been established through out this thread and many others in the past who is intended to use the code. The fact that you got away with it is sheer luck due in part to lazy CSR's more than anything.

Your credit card insurance is also void the minute you accepted that printed contract from Alamo. Rental car insurance trumps any other insurance you have ESPECIALLY (can't make this clear enough) one associated with a corporate code. You cannot have rental car insurance and personal/credit card insurance covering one rental as primary insurance. One supersedes the other. In this case the Car Companies rental insurance will always come first. Which is the main reason why its a terrible idea to use corporate codes that have the agencies insurance included if your not eligible to use it. You will have zero insurance in reality because your using something your not qualified to use which nulls the rental agreement. Get in an accident and you owe Alamo a car, out of pocket.

See, many credit card insurances and car insurances will not kick in if you have the insurance included with the rental. That is what would worry me more than anything.

In order for your Credit Cards coverage to kick in, you are required to Decline the CDW from the rental car company.
If the code that you use automatically includes CDW then your CC coverage will not kick in.
And unfortunately, if you are not eligible to use the discount code that includes the CDW and you have an accident, both the rental company and the CC company are going to wash there hads of it and you will be stuck paying for any repairs to both vehicles involved. And heaven forbid there isn't any negligence assessed as you may also have no coverage if you are sued for personal injury or death.

If you aren't eligible to use the discount/corporate code, for goodness sake don't. It's just not worth the risk IMHO.

I rented using the Vroom Vroom code. I am in Orlando now. I am Canadian though so I guess I am legitimatly international and had no problem. Our flight got in late, at about 1 am, they didn't have any vehicles left in the crossover category so gave us our choice of Suburban or Infinity SUV! We had 2 reservations and happilly chose the Infinities!

Just returned. Used the code and checked in using "skip the counter". Ended up with a Traverse as they were out of minivans. We returned a bit sooner than expected and saved an additional $55. Worked great , no issues at all.
