Vacation Rental By Owners, have or would you ever rent from them?

I was thinking about renting a beach home for Spring Break, its about 1-1/2hours away from us.

So, if you have, was your experience good?

We have used VRBO for several years and have never had a problem. All the places we rented were great and were represented very clearly in the pictures on the website.

We used them last year for a condo on the beach in SC. We had a great experience although we did have to email and remind the owner to refund our security deposit since they didn't do so automatically like the agreement had stated.

I would absolutely use them again.

Ive used them about 7-8 times with only one mishap. We rented a condo in Florida two years ago and when we arrived at midnight the key code to enter wouldn't work and the rental office at the condos was not open. I did have an emergency number to call but in short myself, a friend, and our two tweens were stuck outside a building in Florida for nearly two hours after traveling for most of the day waiting for a maintenance man to come change the code I only go into detail so you can make sure 1) you have an emergency number and 2) you might want to arrive during office hours to check-in. Good luck

Wonderful! , Thanks! This makes me feel better. I will give it a try. Like I said, we won't be that far away, so its not like we would be stranded. Plus, I know the area very well. (Gulf Shores, AL) The house is so beautiful and has a great price too! I will make sure I have an emergency number, thanks for the tip. We should be arriving during the day.
