We usually stay on site, but this December we have decided to rent a 3-4 BR pool home for the week of Christmas. We once stayed in a condo at Windsor Hills and enjoyed it. The WH houses seem pricier than other nearby neighborhoods, though, so I was looking instead at listings in Indian Creek. Are there any other similar neighborhood choices near WH? We really like that location. A gated community is not necessary since the area seems safe, and we don't need high end resort amenities. The IC amenities seem fine for us. We do want something nice and in a safe neighborhood, but newest and top of the line is not necessary. Please share your recommendations if you have experience with home rentals near WH.

One other thing...is there anything we need to know about that area the week of Christmas? Is traffic on 192 horrible? Do we need to plan for extra time getting tot he parks? I know about the huge crowds at the parks, we've been to WDW this time of year before. Usually we be head to the parks first thing int he morning for RD (often 8 am that week), so I think we'll be fine at that time. Sometimes we like to return to the parks in the evening, and I am a little worried about traffic and parking. We usually drive ourselves even when we stay onsite, but sometimes later in the day we use Disney transportation.

Thanks for any advice!

I can only reply on the neighbourhoods in the WH area. Rolling Hills is next to WH, Indian Creek is across from Rolling Hills and Windsor Palms is next to Indian Creek. Formosa Gardens Estates is across Livingstone Rd from Rolling Hills. Oak Island Cove/Harbour is across FG Blvd from FG Estates. Emerald Island is next to Oak Island and Sunset Lakes is the next one past Emerald Island. Acadia Estates is also next to Oak Island. WH, WP and Em Island are the most alike in that they have manned gates, community pools and clubhouses etc. Sunset Lakes, F G Estates and Acadia Estates have coded gates. R H, IC and Oak Island have no gates. They are all nice and quiet and I don't hesitate to stay in any of them. We will be in an Indian Creek home again in three weeks if all goes as planned. We usually go in the low seasons so I can't comment on 192 traffic at Christmas but you can just cross 192 at the lights from Entry Pt Rd to Sherberth Rd and get into Disney that way.
Here's a map of the area with the neighbourhoods marked with blue. WH is #1 and you can click on the markers to the left of WH to find the rest.

We have stayed in Indian Creek a few times and it was great. As for traffic at Christmas..........WOW if you get in it at the wrong time that week right around Christmas Day was awful.......on the 192 and everywhere! We had a flat tire on rental van so had to find another van- and the Budget location they found us another van at was on International Drive and it took my husband literally all afternoon to get there and back-we were staying not far from the Formosa/Indian Creek area. We went to Cocoa Beach I think it was on December 26 and we got on I4 and sat........and sat- people actually went up on the grass embankment to get off the highway.......it took us an hour to get out of the Kissimmee area that day.
