Vow Renewals - Did you get married on original wedding day?

I'm thinking FAR ahead here, but I figure the more I have to plan, the more time I have to save (and unfortunately to change my mind about things! :rotfl: )

DH and I retire in seven years, and we will be moving to FL upon retirement. Retirement for us will mean NO MORE WORKING!! (Unless we get bored, AND want some part-time temporary job).:banana::banana::banana::banana: Anyway, I'm thinking this would be the perfect time to have a vow renewal. Not only to celebrate our marriage (though it would be a odd year, 12) , but it will have a special meaning to us, as will literally be starting a new phase in our life. What better way to celebrate retirement, a happy marriage, and new beginnings?

I'm curious though….when people have vow reveals, do they typically get married on the same date as their original wedding? We got married in May (at Shades of Green, WDW), but I'm thinking of our vow renewal to be in December. I'm also trying to decide if we want to get re-married at SoG or somewhere else on Disney World. One of the BIG pluses at the gazebo at SoG, is it's easier to set the date, and you can actually pick a time too, instead of a Disney pre-determined time. For instance, we had a sunrise wedding (5:40 am! ) and we were allowed to decorate the gazebo the night before our wedding. Im picturing an evening wedding with the gazebo decked out in mini twinkle lights (they will let you attach lights, as long as you don't use nails or something that will hurt the wood, we'd use zip ties), greenery, red bows, and faux candles on the railing. But on the negative side, you are not eligible for the extras that they offer "official" Disney Brides such as carriage rides, photography packets in the MK, etc.

I got a LOT of thinking to do!! What would you do, if you could either 1. Have the wedding, exactly how you'd like it, time, decorations, etc., but no "Disney-Wedding" extras, or 2. A "Disney" wedding, but have restrictions as to what hours, and things like that, but have all the little extras available?

Decisions, decisions!!

We are doing one in November, but the day after our anniversary. We wanted day of but it falls on Thanksgiving Day and they weren't doing any Escape packages on the holiday.

We got married in September but our vow renewal was in May. There were many reasons including wanting to avoid hurricane season, avoiding the worst of the heat, wanting to try a different season as a bride and an excuse to go to the Flower and Garden Festival that I hadn't been able to interest my husband in. So basically it's your day and you should pick what you appeals to you.
Everything else though, with 7 years to plan lots of things might change with DFW and even the Shades of Green in that time. I know so much has changed in the 9 years since our VR (and yet some things haven't changed!).

We got married in May, but I'm planning our VR hopefully for Oct 2019. We just prefer the fall season.
We are shooting for an Escape VR but will most likely just be us two anyway. I want to pick my flowers and I don't feel personally attached to the Memories locations, we want to do SBP where our wedding was.

I was curious about the date thing too to be honest! I'm glad you posted this question!:goodvibes:thumbsup2

We did our VR on the actual date because I'm super-sentimental. I picked our original wedding date because it was a great-weather and cheap time for travel to Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, it's NOT a cheap time at Aulani! :rotfl:

My weddung ceremony was on 3/27 09. i would say there is no special meaning behind the date, although thats what we were going for but the date was booked. its on a friday and we're on a budget so it was cheaper compared to a saturday. and is in a month where a lot of venues give discounted prices since its not a prime wedding month/season.

I Would have liked our original wedding date but my mother in law works in a school and so we have to visit wdw in her October half term. We are doing it a month after our anniversary
