I am new to the board, so I apologize if this has been posted recently.
DH and I are planning on renewing our vows in Sept 08 and are just starting to plan our cruise. In fact, I am waiting to hear back from someone from DCL today.
Anyone else done this and care to share about your experience?

Thanks!

Hi,
Congrats to you on your upcoming 25th anniversary!! We will be celebrating our 10th.
All I have found out so far is that the curent price is about 1900.
This includes:
an 8x10
Certificate
100. Ship credit
solo musician
2 tier cake
champagne
flowers
and a couple other things I know I am forgetting.

CONGRATS!! :cutie:

I am getting married on the Wonder next Feb. :bride: If you have not already done so, I would suggest by starting here, http://disneyweddings.go.com/site/wed/cru/start/index.jsp

Discusses both Wedding and Vow renewal on DCL. 2008 prices are due to be out late May - early June. From what I have found out the Cruise line only has one individual working on Weddings/Vow Renewals, her name is Cathy Ingles. I heard from a few that she worked with them as well.

Here is an old posting that I tried to bring life back into. Hope it helps. There were two great posts after my original request for info.

A few others have posted about their vow renewals and I have had some great discussions offline with brides and vow renewal brides.

Again Congrats!

Holy cow! 1900 for a renewal? ouch! :scared:

Hey, welcome to DIS. You're from my neck of the woods. ;) :wave2:

Yes, Disney is expensive but the one thing I can say about them is that they are usually worth the extra premium you pay. I wonder if you can renew your vows on Castaway Cay for that $1900? That would be SOOOOO worth it to me! :teeth: I guess it's going to depend on how elaborate you wanted this. Is it just the 2 of you or will you have family cruising with you to witness it?

Now, Disney does things Disney style, but I think I'm getting alot of bang for the buck on Princess and yes, we're doing a vow renewal while onboard.

Basic - $205, the couple receives the ceremony, an orchid bouquet and boutonniere, a commemorative certificate, a bottle of Champagne, two Princess-engraved Champagne flutes, and a framed portrait of the ceremony.

Premium - For $485, the couple receives the ceremony plus Champagne breakfast in bed, two robes, a 30-minute massage or facial per person, choice of canapes in the stateroom every evening, and a personalized invitation from the Captain to visit the bridge while in port.

I booked the basic for a few reasons. First, we're in a suite. I can get a champagne breakfast in bed if I wanted it, I already have robes in my room and I don't need any to take home and we already have our spa appointments booked for the week and I need longer than a 30 minute treatment. DH had no interest in doing the bridge tour and they're only offered while in port. Well, we'll be visiting in the port and don't want to cut our time short just to attend a bridge tour.

So DH is in for a surprise when we embark on our journey. I've kept the vow renewal a secret and it's KILLING me. DH's mom knows and she'll be cruising with us so I have her to bounce things off of.

I hadn't even thought about doing it anywhere other than a Disney Cruise. Hmm...Now I will have to think about that.
Disney is just such a huge part of us that it makes sense, ya know?

It will just be us on the cruise, and our 2 young children. We want to include them in the ceremony.

This will be for our 10th anniversary. How about you?

I can't imagine doing it as a surprise! That's awesome!

When I spoke to Cathy, I was informed that they only hold 3 wedding/vow renewal combos on any one cruise. That only weddings were on CC and she kept asking if I was sure I wanted my wedding on board. there are two main reasons I wanted my wedding on board, 1) the day we want to get married is on the Friday so, we would not be at CC for the wedding on the day we want, 2) the cost. Yes, I think it is worth it, but I would also like to have SOME money for an excurion or couples massage on CC. Ok, Ok, Ok MAYBE there is a 3rd reason... hehehe... I GET FIREWORKS ON MY WEDDING NIGHT!!! :rotfl:

Feel free to PM if you like. So far I have only information from her, mouse weddings, Disney Wedding pages and wonderful other DISers who have PM'ed me. I should have more info and my contract no later then mid-June since the 2008 prices SHOULS be out by then. I have only been waiting on them since Jan. :rolleyes1

Good luck!

Well . . . the vow renewals are NOT $1900, they are $1000 as of 2007. They have been misquoting that price since before we planned our renewal.

They only do vow renewals on sea days, not port days unless of course, it is for Castaway Cay and then it is an extra fee.

What did we get for our $1000 for our vow renewal aboard the 2/24/07 Magic?

Our wedding cake
Cake topper
1-8x10 photo from Shutters
Vow Renewal Certificate
1 bottle of Fairytale Cuvee for ceremony
1 bottle of Fairytale Cuvee delivered to room
Ceremony with the Captain
Bridal Bouquet
Grooms Flower
Special Gift - 2 Robes embroidered with the DFTW Logo
Romantic turndown the night of the ceremony
1 Dinner at Palo
Inclusion for 8 guests
Pianist

Services of a photographer is over and above the regular rate. There is a choice to receive a CD with all the images with at least one of the packages.

HI LISA!!!!!!!!!! I was waiting for you to jump in on this one :cool1:

Thank you AGAIN for all of your thoughts and discussion on your experiance on this topic!! :cheer2:

As for the three day vow renewal... When we scheduled our wedding for the Friday, we were told that we would not find out the exact time until 3 weeks prior to the wedding, do to the captain making the schedule and if there is a vow renewal he likes to do those at 4:15, the the weddings at 5:30. So, with that information I would say yes they do preform vow renewals on Friday.

Lisa,
They just told me 1900. yesterday! It's a misquote??
That is some of the best news I have heard yet!
Were you happy with the way everything went?
Also, would you mind telling me what you wore for your vow renewal?

You have just made my day! 1900. seemed really high to us!

I would say yes, it is a misquote. I was all sorts of excited when I saw you received a quote for a 2008 Vow Renewal and called Cathy this morning to see when we should expect the written quote and contract. I was told by her assistant that 2008 prices have still not been releases and that I (and all other brides who have been assigned coordinators for 2008 Weddings/Vow Renewals) should receive an e-mail or call once they are released. Expected NTL Mid-June. :sad2:

Hope this helps some.

I am going to hop in here. I spoke with Cathy for our Jan 08 renewal and she said at the moment the price is $1000, but to expect a small increase to $1200. They won't know for certain until mid June, and I was to call her then. We have our date and time scheduled, however nothing is in stone until the books are open. We are going to renew on board, on Thurs. at sea. It happens to be the day after our 20th Anniversary, so it works out quite well.

Che

Thanks so much Che!
I called and spoke with someone yesterday at Fairy Tale Weddings. She told me it was 1900. and that she would contact someone at DCL and then someone would get back to me and let me know if my date was available so I would know when to book.
Is this how it worked for you? I am anxious to hear back from them! It is over a year away but I am excited.
Since it is 700 less than I was thinking I think we may go to WDW for a day or two. I know that is a very short time there, *and it will be our first* but we can't take anymore time.
We are both from SoCal originally and are nostalgic about Disneyland so we always go there!
Again, Thanks so much!!

AUDRAD.....we booked our cruise in Nov. of 2006 for Jan of 2008....I am a little OCD about travel. I called the Fairytale weddings and they in turn gave me Cathy's name and number. I had spoken with her, I believe, in Jan/Feb of this year and she gave me the info....but said that the full details would have to wait until May. She took down the date and time that I wanted and said that at the moment, I was the only one who had called for that cruise. When I called her first week in May, she said the book wouldn't be available until mid June and to call then. She gave me the quote when I originally spoke with her in Jan/Feb. That would about the same time that PhotoLisa was going on her cruise to renew her vows....(find her thread).

Hopefully this helps.

Che,
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to plan ahead!
Have they sent you any info yet? I am dying to get to see my choices!
