Vow Renewal

Hi All,

I don't post very often but I am looking for some encouragement! My husband and I are planning a vow renewal on 12-6-07 at the WP (to celebrate our 25th anniversary). I am waiting for my agreement from disney. It has been over two weeks now and I'm getting antsy.

I'm very anxious to get an idea on costs so I can start planning. I sent my room blocks in and I'm not even sure I did those correctly.

I've never planned a big wedding. My husband and I got married by a Justice of the Peace in our living room and we had an open house. We are planning on approximately 45 people at our vow renewal in December.

Is everyone this stressed at this point?

Hi Debbie!

Try not to stress too much! I know that's easier said than done, but Disney does so many weddings in a year that they are really professionals when it comes to getting things done quickly!

You might want to call again and ask them to tell you SPECIFICALLY when they will be sending your information. I think they prefer to do a lot of that through email now...have you checked to make sure your email server didn't send it to junk email?

Some custom elements can only be booked 8 months out, could this be another reason for the delay?

In my experience...Disney, while wonderful, does seem to kind of wait 'til the last minute to get information for things. While it seems like it's way too late from the brides perspective, in "Disney time" it's plenty!;)

Hope that helps some!

Hi Denise,

Thanks for replying.

I have been watching my e-mail since the agreement is supposed to come that way.

I have already had family members asking me questions about tickets, etc. and I have told them to not do anything until the website is up. There are supposed to be discounts on tickets. I would hate for anyone to spend more money than necessary.

Do you know how much the ticket discount is?

Thanks again,

Debbie B

The ticket discount isn't great - it's free hopping on a multi day park pass. So they can look at regular ticket prices and see what they'll be paying but know that they'll get the hopping option free. As far as the stress - waiting on all the contract stuff is the most agonizing part of the whole process. It's a lot of hurry up and wait for you for the next few weeks I'm afraid - they keep sending more things and then you send them back and wait :surfweb:

Right now the best thing to do is to start working on dresses, colors, etc and know that Disney will get everything to you in plenty of time - but Disney time is WAY different than Bride time! :) Congratulations and enjoy this board - it's the best!

Debbieb04, congrats!

I agree with the others. Place a phone call to see what the hold up is (if there is one), and then try to be patient. The FTW folks plan somewhere around 1,500 to 2,000 events a year. They're pros at it.

My husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage with a ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion (and a dinner party inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park). We had 22 people at our event. A FTW vow renewal was an incredible way to celebrate a long and successful marriage. (Well, at least in my eyes it was.) If you'd care to read about some of my planning, click here.

Again, congratulations on your upcoming wedding anniversary. For our 25th, we're still arguing over where it might be held -- Hawaii, Disneyland, or Walt Disney World. It's a fun argument to have. ;)

Hi disprincessatheart,

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll purchase my AP very soon. I was hoping the discount would be worth waiting for.

Hi Janet2K,

I feel very honored that you responded to my thread (is that the right term?). I have read your trip reports and planning trip report. They are my inspiration for our vow renewal.

I will keep in mind that Disney knows what they are doing and try to be patient!

Debbieb04, thanks for the chuckle! Of course, if my posts have been the inspiration for your vow renewal, then I will be expecting to receive an invite any day now. *impatiently drumming my fingers on the tabletop* ;)

Seriously, it can be frustrating planning any sort of event. "The Wedding Planner" is currently playing on the TV in my living room. If we as plan-ees feel frustrated during the planning process, I can only imagine how the plan-ers feel. *insert hair-pulling smilie here*

If you have any questions, please make sure to post them here on the Wedding/Honeymoon Board. There are lots of men and women around here who try to help whenever they can.

Janet2K

Thanks again. Your invite should arrive in the mail any day now!

Debbie

Just wanted to say congratulations on your VR!! Everything will come together smoothly so no need to stress!---although i know that's impossible! :)
