Hi! I am new to this section of the DISboards and did not really think I would ever be posting here but am very happy I am!!:dance3:

My husband and I are 55 years old and having our 20th Anniversary in May 2008. I was always the one crazy about Disney World and he was the reluctant partner that would come with me if he could not get one of my daughters to do it. On our 10th Anniversary we renewed our vows in a wedding chapel in Niagara Falls. Last year he started mentioning we should do something special for our 20th Anniversary and it was actually his idea that we have it at Disney World!!

This is a huge treat for us and we are grateful we were able to save enough to be able to do it! So we recently booked an Escape Vow Renewal at the Yacht Club Gazebo in May at Noon and we are both very excited! It will just be DH, myself, my 2 grown daughters, and maybe a friend and her husband who will be there on vacation at the same time.

We have our officiant, Rev Kevin Knox and the location, but that is about it so far.

The questions are:
1) Even if the limo picks us up at our hotel at 11:00 for the noon ceremony with photos, etc. will there be enough time for it to take us to lunch somewhere and back to our hotel before the 4 hours are up? I believe the nicer restaurant in the Yacht Club does not open until dinner, which is a problem at a lot of the nice restaurants. So I was thinking maybe Downtown Disney somewhere. Do you have any suggestions? I hate the thought of the limo just sitting there and not making the best use of it!

2)Do they have the cake & champagne toast etc after the ceremony outside or inside there? I think it would be inside--does anyone know where?

Thanks for your help!

Just wanted to sat welcome to another VR'er and someone who lives so close too! I have family down your way. WOW! Sorry,I can't answer you questions but I looked forward to reading all of your plans. Have fun planning And congrats! We aren't sure wheter we will have an escape (that was our plan) but alot more family has expressed interest in attending which would push us over the 20 guest max. Congrats on the 20 years, have fun planning and welcome! :)

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary and :woohoo: for the VR at Disney!!!

I'm pretty sure the cake and champagne reception at the YCG is just outside of the gazebo itself. Although I could be wrong. If I remember correctly, the gazebo is pretty small and it could get kinda crowded quickly. You can confirm with your coordinator, but I'm pretty sure they'll set a small table just to the side of the gazebo to allow the structure itself to be roomy for your ceremony.

As for the limo...here's what we did and maybe something you want to think about. We used our service two days after our wedding to take us to Downtown Disney for the evening. You don't have to use the service right away. Some brides use it for pick up or drop off at the airport.

If you decide that you still want to use it for a lunch trip, I think you'll still have time. The ceremony time won't be long, maybe 'til 12:30 or so and you will have the limo from 11-3.

Where will you be staying? Is it possible to just have the limo whisk you off immediately after the ceremony to maximize your time for lunch?

Hi welcome to the boards! I was originally considering an Escape wedding at the Yacht Club Gazebo. The cake and champagne toast will be held outside by the gazebo. I think they might set up a few tables to sit at. They wouldn't do the cake inside unless it was bad weather and it that case they would move the whole thing inside to one of the ballroom.

As you said, the nicer/signature restaurants are only open for dinner. I haven't eaten there but I think the Portobello Yacht Club at DD is nice. Another suggestion would be to go out for lunch, have a break, and then go out to the Yachtsman or a restaurant like that for dinner.

Congratulations on 20 years together!

If I remember correctly from speaking with the wedding coordinator, the cake & champagne reception at the Yacht Club is held outside.

We're in the same boat as you for lunch...we have a 10 am ceremony, and it seems like all of the nice resort restaurants don't open until dinner. Right now we have reservations at Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney. You can also try contacting Disney's private dining services and see about creating a custom menu that can be served to you right at the Yacht Club.

We figure if we can't fit the whole thing in the 4 hours w/ the limo, we'll take the boat back to our resort afterwards (staying at OKW). If you're staying at SS, OKW, POR, POFQ and eat at Downtown Disney, that could be an option for you too. Or, just add an hour to the limo, if you really want to use it for the VR--the last thing you'll want is to feel rushed.
