Has anyone done the volunteering program yet? We leave a month from today and are wondering if we have time to sign up, volunteer and get the vouchers for the fastpasses before we leave.

Project Linus making blankets seems pretty popular. What are you interested in doing?

I volunteered on January 29th and received my voucher about 10 days later.

Yeah, I did mine. And I got the email from Disney immediately. Hell, if the time on it is correct, I got it before I actually did it. Then I got it again a few days later.

But I cannot print it. I'm not having any trouble with my printer. I can print other emails and attachments. I just can't print this damn thing. I don't know WHAT the problem is...but Disney is saying it's all on my end.

I think I will just not get my voucher.

You will probably have better luck, but there is my experience.

Yeah, my parents are doing making blankets for their trip this summer. They each have to make two. I also thought it was interesting that if they had anyone under age 18 participating with them, they had to take a picture of the child making a blanket and deliver it with the blankets.

We are taking Dave's class to a family services organization to paint their facility. They just remodeled and need people to paint the whole place next weekend. The lady said that Disney paid for the paint if they could find volunteers to do the work. We already have tickets, but thought the fastpasses would be fun.

We made the blankets, too. We had to make 6 of them in all, for the 3 of us. They only wanted single layer blankets which were so easy. After cutting the correct size, all we had to do was to cut fringes on the 2 long ends. We did make 2 of them the double-layered ones that are tied together at the fringes. I just felt like we needed to put a little more work into them. But, it was still easy. We did have to send along pictures of the 3 of us actually working on them, though. I received my vouchers about 4 days after I delivered my blankets.

Now I'm just trying to decide whether to use the vouchers for a free day or to use them for a special fastpass. We are going during spring break, which will be kinda crowded, so I'm thinking more and more about the time savings with the fastpasses.

If you can sign up for something soon, I'd say you have a good chance of getting the vouchers in time for your trip.
Good luck!

How do you redeem if you want the FP option?

On the main promotion site, under "Redeem" it only mentions either donating the ticket or getting your 1-day pass.

There is a great sub-forum under the Theme Parks forum that talks all about GAD/GAD. In a nutshell, though, as long as you already have a multi-day ticket (or Annual Pass), you redeem your voucher at the park entrance (at guest relations). They will in turn give you a "ticket" for a special fast-pass for you and up to 5 others in your party. Then you take this "ticket" and use it just like your regular ticket in the pastpass machines. Only difference is the return time for these is immediate, you don't have to wait for a specific time to come back. It gets you up to 3 different fastpasses per person on select e-ticket rides, and 3 different fastpasses on a few other rides. The particular rides in each park vary, and the # of fastpasses on each ticket also can vary. I know it's a little confusing, but check out that subforum. It goes into much greater detail.

We did ours on Jan. 19th and still haven't gotten the e-mail back from Disney. I resent an e-mail to the event planner for our service project and she said she would re-email Disney. That was Monday, still haven't heard from Disney. :confused3

I signed up again this morning. Everytime I volunteer for something, which is usually outdoor work in our local Forest Preserves, I keep getting a message back that the works has been completed. So, today, I volunteered to wash, organize, and box toys! That sounds super fun and is only a few miles from my house.

I hope I get my email back fast because I'm actually looking forward to doing this!

I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity's ReStore on January 16, had my e-mail voucher from Disney on January 22, and used the free ticket towards my annual pass renewal at WDW on Jan. 28.

We volunteered and had our vouchers sent to us within 5 days. If there is an opportunity available in your area quickly, then you should be fine.

I also received my email from Disney within a few days after completing the project I volunteered for. We made blankets for the Binky Patrol and they only required one blanket per person, also there weren't as many specs that had to be followed like some of the other blanket making opportunities.

We arranged it, and were supposed to do our volounteering today.
When we showed up there was no one there to help us.
Boy are they going to hear from me on Monday.

I volunteered a day at Habitat for Humanity. It was impossible to pre-register for my day. The email I was sent to sign up was wrong. It keep telling me I had to complete 3 other steps. I finally gave up.
I volunteered the next week and when I got there no one was around. It was a 80 mile drive one way. I did get a call 3 days later saying they were sorry. They were asked at the last minute to go help on another building. I have an Ap so the one day ticket doesn't matter, I thought I could donate the ticket to a child that could use it.

I would like to say that Disney finally came through. I have my voucher.

There was no small amount of work on my part to get it...but I got it.

We did Binky Patrol blankets too. Turned them in today.:goodvibes

Signed up for the Binky Patrol in the next town over from ours. Over 6,781 people have signed up with them and over 3,400 have been dropped off to date.
Bought the fleece this weekend. Going to make 4 double sided tied type blankets. Cost of fabric $99.85, for four. So many choices of fabric it was fun picking out the fleece. DH, DD and DD/boyfriend and I will be busy next weekend. :thumbsup2 good family time..:grouphug:.and the blankets will be made with love and care.....

Hi,

This has been a crazy 2 months for Binky Patrol. Our chapters have freaked out because they have gone from one or two inquiries per month to hundreds each day.

It's about a DAY OF SERVICE - really. Not just the voucher. They are encouraging us all to - as a family or group - volunteer to make a difference.

First, sign up on disneyparks dot com
Then, find an opportunity you want to do in your area by searching.
Contact that organization or sign up for the event.
The organization will get back to you with how it works for them.
Follow the instructions.
If you have more in your group, you'll have to be the group LEADER/LEAD VOLUNTEER and add them in, as well.
NO ONE UNDER 6 gets a voucher.

GO BACk to Disney Parks site, login and COMMIT to the opportunity or select the day of service to make blankets, etc. It may be enough for a voucher, it may not be. READ the information from the organization and the DISNEY FAQ'S for this promotion. It's your job to read through.

After you commit, the organization will verify you did it when you said you would. They can't VERIFY/VALIDATE until the day has PASSED and you have done what you promised you would do.

They go in, verify you. If you are with a group, make sure the organization has the list of EVERYONE - all first and last names as they are registered.

We, as the verifying people, look for your name and mark either "Attended" or "no show." "No Shows" have to go back to start and begin the process again.

ATTENDED folks will get an email thanking them for volunteering within a couple of days. If it's enough hours for a voucher, you'll be able to login and either print or donate the vouchers for each person in your group who has met the requirements. That's it!

Best of luck! Binky Patrol has had over 2800 volunteers verified and have 10,000 more waiting to make their commitments. This has been a tremendous boost to our chapters. Many of the new volunteers are continuing on with us.
