Voucher resales

I thought I'd post this to warn others. I put some extra connections Q&C vouchers I had up on ebay to get rid of them. They called me and told me to cancel the auctions & return them as it is illegal to resell them. I know there are still plenty available there and I'm not sure what they would actually do if I did not return them but I was taking no chances.

The funny part is when I emailed all who bid on them to tell them I had to cancel the auction I told them how to get them from connections. Three different people still wanted to buy them from me because they didn't want to deal with connections.

Just an FYI-

It was Connections. They said it was stated on the voucher that they could not be resold. She also said that they were in danger of Disney not letting them sell any more vouchers if they didn't enforce this.

We did the same thng when we came back from our WDW trip. We had three vouchers left, and I put them on EBAY. I just wanted to get my $11.25 back on each one if I could, because they're no use to you after you get home. I guess I didn't read the fine print from Connections, and didn't know they would buy them back, otherwise, I would have just returned them. Would have been much easier. I'm glad it wasn't EBAY getting nasty or picky about selling. Thanks for the tip.

There are quite a few auctions on E-Bay for vouchers. Why would they make you and not the others cancel? How did they contact you? Thru E-Bay?

If your e-bay ID is similar to or the same as part of the e-mail address that you used to sign up for connections, that is how they can track you. Why they don't just cancel all the ebay auctions, I don't know. I guess because their not copyrighted, so you're not looking at copyright infringement. Legally speaking, once you have purchased something, it is your right to do what you wish with that item. Sell it, use it, throw it away, it doesn't matter. It yours. As far as know, they can't legally do anything about it. They can threaten you and refuse to sell you anything else and cancel your membership, but any threats, I believe, are just so much hot air. JFYI.

I'm not so sure they can't do anything about it, if it's written on the certs. I know that in our area, someone got into trouble reselling store coupons..yet I see those on eBay. I wouldn't take a chance. If they really can't, and they are yours to do with as you please, then I would assume Park Hoppers would be the same thing (although I personally don't have a problem with hoppers up on eBay..or Connections. I do hate to see people selling them for more than their value).

I do suspect you are right, and the worse that would happen is that you would lose your membership.

If it is written on the certificates, it's written there by Disney, not Connections. I can't remember whether it's there or not. If it is there, then Connections is the one reselling them to us, which they probably are not "supposed" to do either. They are intended for use by large convention type groups and tour groups.

Different kind of question -

Does anyone know of a good place to purchase Connections Vouchers "resale" besides Ebay? The prices there are WAY too high, DIS Auctions does not have any and I don't want to join Connections.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

Mousesavers had a website for the breakfast vouchers.

Why not just join through Lillian Vernon (free for the first month) and order some? That would be your best bet. I rejoined last month and will prob stay a member for awhile at $8.50 a month. We use the other gift certs a lot.

If it is there, then Connections is the one reselling them to us, which they probably are not "supposed" to do either.

You think? When we called Disney about getting some, they told us we had to go through their seller..Connections. They must have permission from Disney if you think about the amounts they have to sell.

We've always been so pleased with Connections, and grateful they have a way for us to purchase them. We save lots of money through the Disney certs (Q & C and Lunch) and buy all the certs (Borders, Olive Garden, Toys R Us etc) as gifts for family.

I have some Q & C vouchers that I just bought from Connections, and I see no where on them that says that they cannot be resold.

All I see is that it says, is

"MAY NOT BE REDEEMED FOR CASH IN WHOLE OR IN PART"

Then It says:

"NONREFUNDABLE"

But to me, neither of those things means that you can't sell them yourself?????

I'm looking at my terms of membership agreement they sent me (it's the form that your card is attached to)and it says upon enrollment, you agree to these terms and conditions:

Use of membership. Your membership is non-transferable. You agree that only You and your immediate family may use the membership. Membership benefits are not for resale.

I don't have a voucher to look at.

My user name is the same with Connections & Ebay, that's how they knew.

Not true. I was trying to sell a baseball ticket at a White Sox game because I had an extra. A police man politely informed me that this was illegal. I couldn't sell it at face value or even for $.50, it is all illegal in Illinois.

This happened to me in October. My user names were not the same and from what I understand here's how it works. Disney gets PO'ed at Connections when customers who paid inflated prices for Connections vouchers cry foul (yes I know buyer beware, but...). Once I calmed down I re-called the number on my answering machiene and asked a zillion questions. Anyway Disney threatens to stop selling to Connections--lets face it they do a brisk business with these. If you read the Connections contract it states that you cannot "transfer" anything you purchase from them and that items are not to be resold. She then said that you may gift the giftcards when I said that Connections advertised how much I could save in "transferring them as gifts". In any event they go through E-bay's legal dept. and "our" info is given to Connections so they can contact us. Personally I find it funny that they call froom their legal department to warn you not to sell, but they "inflate" your membership price for re-newal and only give you an 11 month membership unless you threaten them with legal action. Go figure?! Anyway don't feel bad about trying to auction them off--way too many people are out there doing the same thing, but once the "trial" membership is cancelled and/or the 90 days for returning are elaspsed they really cannot call the seller about them since Connections is unwilling to "buy them back". Either wait until your 90 days is up and repost them orsend them back for your refund.

I also don't understand why Disney would care if you sold them on E-Bay at inflated prices. You still only get a $11.25 value from Disney. So what's the big deal? I just hate to see people paying so much for them. Would it be against E-Bay policy to e-mail the people bidding on the vouchers and give them the Connections info and price?

I talked to my DH about this... and he said, truly that he would wait for an administrative cancellation from Ebay itself, not a phone call from Connections. For all he knows, it could be another Ebay seller saying they are from Connections.. you know what I mean.. if they get you to cancel your auctions more for them.

Anyone can SAY they are from Connections, and called ID may not just say out of area, on untraceable. (We don't have Caller ID so it doesn't matter to us)

Or you coud do this, make up an Connections only email.. revise your Connections profile with this new email, and then sell away..

the new email could be something goofy... like.. 23345i409589@ whatever.com Of course they couldn't get that.

Or, you could change your Ebay location profile just for those auctions. Say you had a common last name.. change the location in your Ebay profile just for the vouchers. Put something like "great vouchers for less" in the location. Or a neighboring state/county.. say you live in NYC, you could say "5 borough area"... that could mean anything.

Or if you are in DC area "Northern VA area".. those all mean the same thing.

For smaller areas Idaho for example could become Potato land,

So, you see what you are coming from. Anyone could say they are from Connections.. it is up to you to verify it.

I doubt eBay's legal dept would give out this info willy nilly to a non vero member...although they have no problem giving our info to the IRS, and they will willingly tell you that LOL!

If they (Connections) are a vero member, it's under another name (I can't find them listed).. I suspect someone from Connections placed a bid..once they do that, they can get your contact info. It's pretty easy. I wonder too, if they didn't call, because the OP had so many up for sale..and most people are just selling a few leftovers. Maybe they thought you were buying and selling them as a business.

The reason I wouldn't wait for an administration cancel, is because that goes on your record...and if they are Vero members, it would show up that you were doing something wrong. It says on the form I got you can't resell them, and although you didn't realize it..and who knows if legally they can do anything..I think you did the "right" thing by cancelling. Be sure to ask eBay for a refund of your listing fee (as long as you didn't cancel too close to the end).

The first time we ordered last year, we got 10 for us (this was before I realized it was a so-so deal). I then ordered more for our reunion for other family members that wanted them. After we hit 30, Connections called and asked what I was doing with the vouchers...it was Connections who called as I did not have any listed on Ebay. Personally, after the trouble I've had this time with Connections it may be easier to buy from EBay!!!

First of all for someone to get your phone number off ebay...you would get an email and their phone number is provided to you as well and this can only be done with someone that you have completed a transaction with.

Secondly...I'm sure it was connections that called, because I got a call as well when I was listing the connections address to the site (free advertising for connections) on ebay so people wouldn't get ripped off paying the inflated prices or BUYING a link to connections. She told me I had to remove my auction immediately as it violates their terms (again you would think they would want the advertising so people would join and my auction said .01, but I guess not). No one on ebay requested my personal info, so I am 100% sure it was connections.
