On the national level, things suck at the moment. Sorry, there really isn´t any other good way to put it. All 3 of the countries biggest banks were nationalized (which means we lost ALL our stock), waaay too many companies are going bankrupt, the national bank has raised it´s interests to 18%, etc. There is almost no foreign currency in the country so we can only withdraw $500 per person for our upcoming trip to Florida. However, we are fortunate enough to still have a bank account in Denmark which will make it possible for us to still go on our vacation to the States.

On a personal level, we´re o.k. Sadly, we lost all our stock and my DH lost his entire pension fund. But we´re young and healthy and will hopefully be able to get back on track soon. Of course we´re worried about DH´s company. He owns his own marketing business but as is things are going great and we hope he will survive. I will go back to teaching in January and luckily don´t have to worry about loosing my job.

But things are really tough for very many people here at the moment and there is a very depressed atmosphere here. I´m extremely greatful that we are fortunate enough to be able to still go on our trip (cancelling would have cost us thousands of $$$)

Well, since your country actually has a foreign policy and tends to feel that they have the right to interfere with other countries than your own, many people care A LOT about who is elected POTUS.

If your president didn´t have any impact at all on the outside world I couldn´t care less about this election but the fact is he does!

While irrelevant in terms of choosing the President, this website shows very clearly how much cooperation and amity the two candidates can expect to receive from international partners, should they win the election.

I chose Costa Rica as my country and voted. I cleared my cookies and chose Ethiopia and voted. (My own little version of ACORN.) That's one scientific poll! I love the fact that the website owner is soliciting donations through PayPal ..

I bet they KNOW he´s republican. That may be enough for many, if not most. They know he´s pro-life, think he´s "pro"-war (if there is such a thing), chose Palin as his running mate (with her tremendous foreign expertise)...

Unfortunately, the arrogance of some of our citizens is a direct reflection of the administration we've had over the past eight years.
