Volo question?

Is it really worth $109.00? My son turned 2 in March and I would like a small stroller for running errands and of course WDW this Dec. He weighs 45 lbs so I can't just buy the cheapie umbrella. I am 6' any my DH is 6'4 . So can someone tell me if it is worth that much money?

I don't have the VOLO but I have two Maclaren Techno xts and WE LOVE THEM!! I never use my big ole clumpy stroller anymore! My DD is 2. We plan to take it to disney this summer, and we have taken it on every trip with her so far!! It's awesome! I am sure the Volo is aswell!
I am 5' 10 so I am pretty tall too and it works great for me... our xts have adjustable handles... although I have never needed to attend them!! I can definaly tell the difference when I push my dd in my moms CHICCO and then put DD into her stroller... They don't even compare!!

Figure even if you use it for 4 years you can still sell it on craigslist for $50, so it actually only costs you $60 to use it for 4 years.

That is about $15 per year.

Excellent stroller. Very lightweight and the carry strap is priceless.

Lots of storage room if you use the right kind of bag.

Worth every penny. Has nice recline already, a tired child can fall asleep in it comfortably and it's a very roomy seat.

My 8yo dd weighs about 80 lbs probably and she fit in it just fine and it was a breeze to push.

We bought it for my 3yo ds who now weighs 40lbs, figuring I'll use it till he is 6 years old and then sell it on craigslist.

I have to say yes. I started out wanting the Volo and wound up with a quest 2006 model on sale from all be baby. Mac.s are the best, just test drive them side by side in the store and you will see what I mean. Happy shopping!

Can't comment on whether a volo is worth the $$ or not, don't have one. Many people love them though.
I did just want to say that the above statement(quote) kind of caught me off gaurd, there's no way that I would pay $50 for a 4 year old stroller. Manufacturers are always changing/updating their products and new models/revisions come out every year. Who knows what features the 2010 volo will have? My guess would be that most consumers would not even consider purchasing a 4 year old stroller. I recently sold a stroller on craiglist. It was less than a year old but the most FAQ were 1) how old is it? 2) how often was it used

I've been buying and selling kids' things on craigslist for about 4 years now. Older strollers in good to excellent used condition usually sell for fairly high if they are Peg Perego or Maclarens or any other good brand. And many budget conscious consumers will buy a stroller that is 4 years old, assuming the price is right and the stroller is in good condition.

So it's a fair statement to assume you can find a buyer for a stroller that's 4 years old as long as the stroller has been well maintained and it's priced properly.

Also, children between 3 and 4 years old don't sit all that much in strollers anymore, except at places like Disney World where they get fairly tired.

So buying a stroller for a 2 year old assumes it will probably be in good shape even 3-4 years later. Now I can't say the same about a model like Safety 1st, they are just lousy strollers even after 1 year.

Macs have high resale values. Even a search on ebay shows that a good condition volo stroller without hood sells for about $40.

The OP would be buying a 2007 model with hood, so I think she could sell it in a few years.

You're absolutely right. Macs definitely have a high resale value, especially in comparison to safety 1st. The stroller I sold was a combi, retailed for $200, so it definitely was not a cheap stroller. Not as big a name as Mac but certainly not Safety 1st either.
I'm not telling the OP to NOT buy the Mac, I just think that there might not be as big a market for a 4 year old single stroller. This is only what I've noticed, but most of the used strollers that go quickly are usually doubles. For some reason secondhand single strollers don't seem as marketable as doubles. Perhaps it's my imagination, or maybe it's because most, not all, but most of the consumers purchasing single strollers are doing so for their first-born child and are therefore more inclined to buy a brand-new stroller. This is all hypothetical of course, just MHO.
Regarding the OP choices, I would say that your options are sort of limited only because most strollers only go up to 40 - 45lbs. Macs are a bit higher, and I think Kidco strollers go to 50(I'd have to check on that to be certain). Good luck and be sure to post when you make a final decision
