I was wondering if anyone else has a 6-7 year old that they use the Volo stroller with. I am needing something for this fall that will hold my just turned 7 yr old. She is 6 1/2 right now and weighs 42 pounds. I understand that the Volo holds up to 55 pounds and we will be returning in Dec. 2006 also to WDW after the fall trip this year. We want to be able to get both trips out of one stroller. The Volo pictures make it seem like it looks uncomfortable. There appears to be no support in the seat. Does anyone have any info. on this stroller for me? I would appreciate this because it is driving me crazy to try and find a stroller that holds 50 lbs or more. If anyone has any other suggestions that would be great also. :mickeybar :mickeybar

You could just rent a stroller in the park - they're quite roomy, and a 7 yr old might not need a stroller all that much. It's amazing how much more freedom we had in the park when dd5 went stroller free! How much longer do you think she'll need a stroller? Is it worth the money to buy one?

I would say not - my ds at 5 was about that weight and I could barely move the damn thing. So I swapped it for a 3 wheeler jogger instead, much easier for Disney World, it just glided along and was the easiest stroller I have ever pushed.

Maclaren strollers are really narrow, expensive and not that well made, I would consider something else (I used to sell strollers and baby equipment)

Feistyblue it is funny you say that the Macs are really narrow. I had that problem with other strollers and got the volo because it was much wider. My DD was squished height-wise and width-wise in all the others we tried. At least for my DD the volo fits great with room to grow.(46inches, 52 pounds) Funny how different people have such different experienes. My volo pushes like a dream with over the weight limit of 55 pounds. Best advice is that the OP should go with the child and try one out. Renting is a option as well. I find that we move quicker in and outside the parks with our little volo. To each there own. :flower:

Oh absolutely Daisylove, I agree with that. But if you compare seat widths, any Maclaren is actually one of the narrowest that you can buy - well over here anyway. Maclaren is a UK company and they are made here, and as I used to stock them I can say that they are much narrower than Gracos or Peg Pegero strollers.

Most people in the stroller industry recognise that they simply aren't built to the standards that they were 25 years ago. They have the highest return rate along with Peg Pegero due to faults etc.

The OP should definitely take the child with her and push each stroller for a good 5/10 minutes around the store. A minute or two is not enough!

Thanks for the posts. I could just rent a stroller at the parks, but I figured if I could buy one that I could use for 2 years that would be a better option money wise and I could sell it when we were done. My DD is small for her age, and her little feet and small steps make it hard to get around with a much bigger mom, dad, brother (10) and sister(15). It is much easier for us to have a stroller for her. I find it amazing that people say it is easier without one when you are trying to drag small tired children behind you. I will probably be using a stroller until DD is 9 or 10. It also helps to hold things we dont want to carry.
I would love to go to the store and try one out, but none of our local stores sell the Maclarens. I dont know where would be the closest one- we live in Roanoke, VA. I went out a couple of days ago and none of the ones in our stores would hold over 40 lbs. I know the frustration of trying to push a stroller that the kid is too heavy for. I had also looked at the joggers because they looked sturdier with those big wheels, but the front wheel doesnt turn, and I didnt know how easy that would be to push in a park situation.
Thanks for the help. Guess I will try and decide what to do from here. :wave2: princess:
