how are the wait times with the bands they give you? Already heard a few rides are down and curious how well the lines moves

Waits are ranging from almost walk-on to upwards of 250 minutes on the Oh-No and Oh-Yeah slides. I think they have listed the lines for a ride or two as "closed" due to the Tapu Tapu reaching a cutoff point. As far as I have seen from reports, every big attraction is working.

So then there is a limit with the TapuTapu for how many ppl can reserve a ride time per day?

When the TapuTapu gives you the time to return and you do so, does it take long from then to wait or do you get right now?

There's definitely a limit on how many people they can put on a ride in a day so there's a limit on how many reservations they can book per ride/day. Seems possible popular rides could sell out early on crowded days especially until the hype wears off a little bit.

So you can definitely "wait" for more than one ride at a time, right? Go tag in at one with a 250 minute wait, then the next with a 30 minute wait?

From what I have seen posted from the media event, you can only have one ride in the queue at a time plus Krakatau. I am interested in know if that is not correct because it seems like a major flaw in the system if there is not at least some kind of standby line.

The OhNo/OYeah slides were having problems today, crews were working in the pump room for it and the system kept stopping and restarting, so it took a LONG time for each person to go down, so I think that was a part of it. I did get to do OhNo before the wait went up to crazy levels (although I had to wait through 3 restarts to do it)

Hi:) last week I posted this very thing they were going to do this from hearing it on one of the media sites. Universal has been saying there is no stand-by line only Tapu Tapu and EP. Unless they change it once they hear people complaining that they are not able to get on a ride at all because there is no more virtual times. This system is close to Disney Fast Pass plus the only difference is they give you 3 to start. If all the virtual times run out you don't get to go on. I went ahead and bought EP for both my days in July/August. I just don't want to take a chance of not riding. I hope it all works smoothly:goodvibes

I'll report back tomorrow if no one does first. We have express pass, but I still want to know how it works for the future.
Thank you:goodvibes looking forward to your report. We have seen maps of VB but if they have a map or info sheet on cabana placements and you get a chance can you post something.:thanks: Have a great time:thumbsup2

Hi :) It also sounds like if everybody coming in gets Krakatau Aqua Coaster and it is not on the EP then on a busy day you will only be able to ride it the one time you get. Maybe at the end of the night once it slows down you will be able too.

So with the tapu tapu band you reserve the time for your ride, but aside from this can you just wait in a standby line? One of the things I despise about this virtual queue system is like at the Jimmy Fallon ride, several times I show up to the ride at 2-3pm and basically there are no options to go on it,all the times are taken, they don't have a regular line open and all they can tell you is maybe at 7-8pm they'll open the regular line, not good!!!I have the preferred AP which expires in early July, from what I see between now and the end of June my options are to pay the regular admission price or $99 to make my pass a 3 park pass, with this pass expiring July 5th and all preferred 3 park passes being blackout in July I think I'm either just going to wait until August to upgrade my pass to 3 parks or get myself a Disney 2 park waterpark AP,it'll also give me time to research things like their virtual queue system to make sure people are actually able to get on the rides, especially June thru July where I'm assuming the park will be a madhouse.

Hi:) as of right now there are no stand-by lines. You can use tapu tapu or buy the EP. There were already problems with times running out today. In the future they may have to consider something for a stand-by if people complain about this. I think waiting till August sounds like a good idea. Things can change by then.

The way the system was described in the previews was that you tap the band at the slide and it puts you in a virtual line. It will give you an estimate on when your time is but that time will adjust based on how the "line" is going. You can only be in the queue for one ride and also the water coaster. You can not get in another queue until you ride the slide you were already in. There is no standby lines so you would hang out at the wave pool, lazy river, or the restaurants until the band notifies you to go to the slide.

I've been to enough water parks to know that not all the slides need something like a virtual queue, even in the middle of summer with the parks at peak capacity many slides are 5-15 minutes depending on the slides. To hear that there's no standby line is disappointing, the same way with the Jimmy Fallon ride,I love the attraction and the line free queue but if there's no option at all to ride for 5 hours or to wait, that's a fail.As I write this I cannot wait to get in this park but I think waiting until crowds ease off and have Universal figure out this line system is the best option.Maybe use the tapu tapu virtual queue in the 3-4 most popular slides and the other slides are normal standby might be the best option for this type of system.

I completely agree. It seems like overkill to have every ride be a virtual wait type thing. That basically screws everyone who shows up later in the day. I think if they want to continue with this system, they need to get rid of the express pass option altogether. Or, get rid of the virtual wait system and offer express pass along with a standby option. I saw a tweet today that showed Krakatau water coaster at a 6 HOUR wait. That's ridiculous. I imagine that water coaster might have a 45-60 min standby line, tops, in a traditional queue system. It seems like a pretty high capacity attraction. They could have one side by standby and the other express pass or virtual queue.

I think the six hour wait was basically people arriving later in the day and being given a ride time that was six hours from then. Eventually, it reached a point where it filled all it's Tapu queues and the line was listed as "closed". I would expect that if you arrive later in the day during the busiest times of the year, you could potentially get a Tapu without the coaster loaded on it since all the reservation slots would be taken (kind of like when a fastpass runs out of time slots, just think of tapu in that way with the "wait time" basically being the fastpass return time).

It'll probably be crazier this weekend, but just understand that with these posted waits, it probably isn't the time people are waiting in actual lines, but more like a return time. An exception would be when the ride is experiencing technically difficulties, like Oh-No and Oh-Yeah did yesterday. The Aqua Coaster had problems to a lesser extent as well, to be expected on opening day. I could see those building actual lines as the ride cycles through down time.

Am I the only one having a hard time visualizing how this TapuTapu system works? I have to believe they've fully thought it through, but as of now it just seems bizarre and illogical. Seems like on busy days you may only get to ride a few things and spend most of your day waiting around.
