Volcano Bay Soft Opening?

We won't be going until December, but I am really excited to see pictures from opening day. It does seem so close.

I agree, while being first is awesome, waiting for lessons learned is also better most of the time. We've hit the two potter areas both, a year after opening, just for the lesser crowds.

Just saw a video dated 5/17/2017 (yesterday). They had Honu back together and were doing test runs with dummies again. Looked like a safer trip down with the new piece installed.

I'm glad, I have to say that the early videos showing Honu being tested with dummies on the raft looked pretty terrifying to me.

Edit: Correction, I think I meant Puihi, the blue raft ride with the high walls.
Edit: The blue raft ride is Honu? God I'm so confused. I need to see a better map with slide names, the slide descriptions are all too similar for my exhausted brain.

Do you have a link to the video?

I'll be driving down two weeks after it opens and might not actually make it into the park for a couple of days after that. I hope by then that any major problems could be identified and shaken out and that a reasonable level of expectation can be determined for dealing with any other issues on my part. Looking forward to it!
Seems like a reasonable plan and you've got your expectations in check ... a great combination for success.

I'm heading down in Sept myself, but I really won't have a chance before then anyway. If I could book a long weekend just to check out VB before then I'd probably pick a weekend after the 4th Holiday. I figure those crowds will give just about anything a shakedown cruise.

I think this is the one

Yes, that is the correct one. And the same youttuber posted on dated yesterday of actual testing with people in it. Looks like Honu is going to be good to go! You can see the modification they put in to make it wider on the second section.

It looks pretty cool! I think this is one we will definitely try to ride first. Glad they put in that extra piece of slide:scared:

Yeah, the first video of testing I ever saw on Honu almost had a loaded raft come over the side. They certainly need that extra space there.
