Have booked a family cabana for our group of 16 for a day on a weekend this July. I understand it will be crowded! Should I buy Express Passes or will Tapu Tapu wristband be adequate? Half the group will be non-stop in the water and on slides and the other half may venture out for a slide or two. Thanks!

there are no express in VB. You will have a Tapu Tapu in the cabanas so no chasing around. The Cabanas were SO worth it!!

Thanks Cotton Candy! We are looking forward to the cabana. When I booked it--they mentioned two levels of express passes for Volcano Bay that might be new this year--one that lets you go on all the slides once and one that limits which slides. Having a tapu tapu in the cabana though makes me think that we won't need the passes--no running around!

There are Express Passes at Volcano Bay. We have used them in the past (yes, we also had a cabana). Some thoughts:
  • They are not included with hotel express passes. You must purchase them for the exact date you will be in the park.
  • The price varies by day.
  • You may purchase them for any number of guests. They are not required for the whole party.
  • They only include one ride per slide.
  • There are two different types (priced differently). One includes all the slides. The other omits a few of the wilder ones. You can mix and match for your party.
In deciding whether or not to purchase, I would consider a few things. Will you be there for early admission? This can be the best time to ride some of the more popular slides like Krakatau. Will members of your party want to ride some of the slides over and over?

We have slide fiends. We got there for early admission and spent the first couple hours riding the slides before the lines built. We then used tapu tapu and the express pass to continue riding throughout the afternoon. We had breaks for lunch and the not so lazy river. We are heading back in June and have rented a cabana and purchased a mix of the two types of express passes based on our preferences.

Perfect--good to know! We are staying at Cabana Bay and would do early entry for the most part. The biggest slide fiends--the teens--will probably sleep in and saunter over. I'm thinking I will get 8 passes--4 of each. The other eight of us may do a slide or 2 at early admission and then lazy and not so lazy rivers. I'm just happy to be there with the gang for the day! Thanks again.

Well, I stand corrected lol. I usually go in October and have never been offered, asked or needed one.
Have a blast!!
