VMK_Zev on "taken"

Well put Riku! I must say it's very annoying but it seems that it would probably be REALLY hard to ban all people who do the "taken" thing. That would eliminate 97% of players in VMK and if the sole purpose of this game is to get more people to the parks, they can't ban everyone. Since this will probably never go away i say that DIS make a tips on avoiding "taken" people. Like Tink's suggestion of being green or purple. Or ignoring people. We can still have fun in this game! :cheer2:

Again, this is harassment if I have to change the way my character looks so that everyone and their mom will stop popping the question then exploding into a ball of tears. I like to look good as i think of my character as an extension of myself.

Another taken story: A boy was sitting on a bench in the Esplanade and said he's looking for a girl. A dark-skinned girl sat next to him (a pale-skinned boy) and he said "ugly, don't want black." More followed and it was horrible. I reported him but I doubt there's anything that would be done.

People have called me a bench, a dc face, and an 'as' for not wanting to be taken. LOL, I should email this to vmk, but i never get responses anyway... i bet they are backlogged with complaints about the gift-giving, among other emailed requests/changes/problems.

Yea harrassing is against VMK Values as far as I know! Always report ppl for doing things like that. But that's still different then taken. Taken is mostly annoying. So i get over it. Unfortunetely since i'm a girl, and for some reason girls ONLY ask guys, i am rarely ever asked to be taken. Sorry guys! It looks like VMK is always Sadie Hawkins!

I was going to mention that because I'm a boy, girls always ask me (and one boy asked too, lol). I almost never see boys asking girls. Regardless, I think the taken issue isn't safe for children that are between the younger age of not understanding it and the older age of understanding what a real relationship is. VMK's site says that it's targetting 8-14 y/o's! Kids know a lot more than the general public gives them credit, but they still lack the experience and maturity to be safe with 'taken.' Many adults lack the same things. I'm just seeing a way children can be exploited, corrupted, or coerced by strangers they think they can trust. I just hope ABC News never has to report how a boy/girl became abducted after divulging critical info to someone on vmk. You know that's something the media would jump on and not get off. And then no more vmk, as disney pulls the plug. ::tear:: Parish that thought quick! Ok, ok, I'm breathing again. That was close. ;)

I think they should put it in the rules NOT to do this inappropriate stuff and then give people 2 hours bans for doing it. People may quickly stop because we all know how many people want to be community leaders. This would eliminate their chances. I DO NOT want a CL running around the kingdom asking people if he/she is "taken." So, this would work by filtering out those people and putting a partial end to this chaos!

one time, me and my friends on VMK dressed up as boys(we really lookd like boys! it was amazing!) and walked around some of the rooms on Main Street. we had a plan. when we dressed up as boys, we waited for some girl to ask one of us if we were taken or not. then at that moment, we would dress up in a drss and say: " remember you never know who is behind the key.board. keep that in mind." LOL

I am totally against the whole "taken" thing myself. On the rare occasions that I have been asked, I usually reply with "I am neither taken nor available." Unfortunately, that usually requires an explanation, and that's where I really have to be careful as how to explain myself for fear of the "censor bots" attacking. :(

I don't believe in taken. I'll leave people alone if I'm not being asked, but when I am asked if I want to be someone's girl friend (usually a guest asking because off my stuff) I say I don't believe in it. Sometimes, they don't get it. Actually, they allmost never get that I don't believe in taken. Tell me I'm not the only one who has encountered something like this conversation:

(Guest asks to trade, I accept)
Guest: Will you be my boy friend?
Me: I'm sorry, I don't believe in boy friend girl friend stuff.
Guest: But I like you.
Me: We just met.
Guest: But I really like you.
Me: That may be true, but I still don't believe in this kind of stuff.
Guest: But I really really like you.
Me: You don't even know me.
Guest: Yes I do.
Me: Not really.
Guest: So, will you be my boy friend?
Me: no.
(I close trade window and flee the room)

*applause* What a brilliant rendition of the conversations stupid girls will give! lot's of times i'm getting my credits and girls are all "I need a boy" So i promptly say "What are you doing on VMK then?" She 's all "No, in the game." Then of course i say my famous "That's virtually sad" line! *bows* ty ty!

I JUST DONT like the taken or "mummy " or "duh duh" thing, because people make beds and pretend to have kids. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
and i just ignore the ppl that say "u taken" "do u wanna be" god so annoying then if u say no the girls run and pretend to cry and say u hurt their feelings then they report u!i dont like the idea of having a mummy or duh duh because the reason that if u have a mummy or duh duh, then ur supposively mummy and duh duh had to do something gross in pretend to pretendly have u! GROSS!and disney is like way way way way better then that! W.W.W.D?
what would walt do?? i think he would be mighty ashamed of the disney company.

Bravo!!! I am so glad to see again that I am not the only one that is bugged by this behaviour. I have seen it in every room I have gone to it seems and I fear this becoming a place for preditors if they don't find some way to put a stop to it. I quickly put "not looking" in my signature the first day I was in vmk and seen this going on everywhere.

It was beggining to look like that was all VMK was about for awhile. I signed my 10 year old niece up and instructed her to put either taken or not looking in her siggy too, first thing I did was lecture her about this practice and it's dangers. I'm so glad to see it is something others have noticed too and maybe if enough of us make it an issue of it and the risk then VMK staff will have to at least listen.
