I have just started playing with VMK and have a few questions.

1. I really don't know what I'm doing. How do I learn just the basics? Is there a possibility there will be a VMK for Dummies or Complete Idiots book?

2. Really dumb question. How do I know when I'm elligible for a card? Where do you get the actual card?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

1. Check the VMK players guide at the top of the page.

2. What kind of card? you can get code cards anytime at DLR or WDW magic kingdom.

I did read the guide, but the majority of it isn't explained simply enough for a newcomer to really understand.

Ok then,

VMK is a free online game that acts as a chat room with charaters in a backdrop of Disney parks combined into one, huge one. You can play mini games pirate: and earn credits to shop with. You have rooms you can decorate and you can visit other peoples rooms too. And don't forget! You can also win things at real Disney parks to use on VMK. There are quests where you win stuff and magic that can put a divers suit on you, space suit on you, and more! Hope you have fun!

I would say you can play this game in whatever way fits you best. Some players enjoy walking around the Kingdom just chatting and making new friends, exploring the Kingdom, others really like playing the mini games inside VMK and sharpening their game skills. There are also those who like to collect items ( pins, clothing, furniture) others like decorating rooms, creating games for other players etc.... Most of us are a combination of all. ;)

You can earn credits to purchase items in the game by playing the mini games, ( Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Castle Fireworks, and Haunted Mansion) clicking on the Characters in the game ( Esmeralda, Ned, dragon, Captain Blackheart, and the three ghosts in the Haunted mansion), making a music mix and playing it in the Music game. There are more ways also, but I am turning this into a book LOL

Check out the "Q" button on the bottom of your game screen for special in game quests you can play and be sure to read the lastest news on the homepage at vmk.com.

When you visit WDW or DLR you can go to VMK Central and complete in-park quests for special game items also.

I hope this gives you a start into the game.

Lori

thanks for the useful advice. I guess I will learn by trial and error and not get too excited If I don't understand it for a while.

One way I learned alot when I first started was reading the help stuff in the game and the tips that pop up when you first get on. These tell you pretty well how to do stuff. Making friends in the game helps too since there are many that are helpful in getting you through what to do.
But yes much of starting out is just trial and error. Just watch what you say around and you should be fine (ie no personal info and trying not to mention other sites like my space, etc sure ways to get banned) Anyway welcome and have fun. :wave2: :welcome:

sorry you feel the guide does not meet your needs, I am working on a new addition or version that might but it will take a while.

You will have probably figured the game out by the time it is finished ;)

I wasn't trying to imply that the guide wasn't good, I was just trying to say that since I'm new at this thing, I need the basic info in a "dumbed down" version for me. I really haven't played any video games since I was a kid, and I was not especially great at it then either. I'm sure once I figure more out, I will understand the guide better.

You get cards from completing a quest or doing a task at a Dinsey park. These cards have codes on them you can use to gain virtual items.
What IS VMK?
Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom (let's just call it VMK) is an online multi-player game. Where else can you experience the awesome magic of Disney Theme Parks from your own home? Nowhere, that's where. You get to create your own character and check out amazing lands, play action-packed games and even decorate your own personal room with cool virtual stuff. Plus, you can meet tons of other VMKers from around the world. Oh, and it's totally FREE, so you can log in and unleash the magic now!

he magic now!

Is VMK in the Disney Theme Parks?
Heck yeah, it is. Next time you go to either Disneyland® Park at the Disneyland® Resort in California or Magic Kingdom® Park at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida, you've got to visit VMK Central. That's where you get the in-Park Quests to complete and win way cool VMK gear, magic spells and fun surprises you can only get at the Theme Parks. You'll be the envy of the Kingdom when you show off your exclusive in-Park only bling!

I haven't looked in quite a while, but there used to be a lot of basic game guides that were linked to from the VMK home page. Once you read these and have some idea of what you would like to try a little more specific question could be posted here, might already be answered by the stickys on the top of this forum section, or even asked in game.

A little hint: There are a few characters wandering around VMK that titles start with "CL_". They have volunteered to be Community Leaders whose purpose is to help out other players with their questions. Even though they are not required to trade or be friends with anyone, they can attempt to help you out with any questions you have.
