the vmk lingo goes like this....

on or I = one (1)

to or too = two (2)

tee or thee = three (3)

for = four (4)

hive = five(5)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Add more words!! :wizard:
Edited my reply to try to be more clear -- as pumpkinfish said, no I wasn't trying to be critical.
I use those words as well, when I *need* to. But, I also know that it's frowned upon, and if used to give personal information, against their rules.
If they see you using the "number substitutes" to communicate a phone number, address, age, or other personal information, they will definitely warn you and probably ban you temporarily.
Just to make sure that you know, even if you and I might not *agree* with their rules.
(there are more but i can't think right now)
sticks = six (6)
even = seven (7)
late = eight (8)
mine = nine (9)
then or decade = ten (10)
thristy = thrity (30)
50th = fifty (50)
hungry = hundred (100)
though sand = thousand (1000)
weak = week
annual = year
I am sure I will think of more later.
Most of this wording is used in a harmless fashion because it is difficult to communicate in VMK. Just a reminder that age or location is not supposed to be discussed for safety reasons. Whether or not you get in trouble using these altered terms depends on the staff that is on at the time or how they are being used. I have seen actual VMK staff (not talking community leaders here) use some of these terms, and I have used them myself. I think the best advice is use common sense.
Yes, I know everyone does this. But be aware that if VMK staff see you count, they will warn you to stop, or else ban you.
why? it's a harnless thread? I wasn't trying to be stuck up..
A few other variations...
free = 3
fix = 6
fate = 8
ear(s) = year(s)
I don't think that JeanJoe was trying to say you were being stuck up :)
Just informing you that being banned could be the result of "counting" during the game.
And now, despite my warning to you all, I'll suggest that:
- 'hunt red' is probably clearer than 'hungry'
- 'tent' has been used for ten
- 'ear' has been used for year
;)
I just wanted to add that I have been warned for saying how many times I went to WDW in the last year. :rolleyes: So they do warn people for using some form of numbers.
oh yeah and
grand = 1000
I understand VMK warning people for disclosing things like their age, but stating how many times you've been to WDW seems harmless enough. Guess I'll think twice next time before helping people with Hidden Mickeys ("there are too of them in here", etc...) :rolleyes:
I'm not sure if this was mentioned (DIdn't see it but I'm Jungle Cruising while I read), but you can type out in words:
fifty
ninety
No idea why :)
50th is in the dictionary, for the recent celebrations.
No idea for ninety.
No I didn't say 50th, I said fifty :) you can say the word fifty. maybe for celebration too.
also, century works well for 100
:)
Yah, sorry I wasn't clear. My guess, like yours, was that 'fifty' was allowed for the same reason that '50th' was allowed. Still no idea why ninety is :)
Actually, you can write the number ten
I O = ten
Hu band = husband
Sea star = sister
Ok - I witnessed this one and I did laugh - sorry!! :rotfl2:
More on = Moron
Wow, I was driving today and thinking of starting a thread on what I call "VMK Speak." Yeah, I know, it is sad that I was thinking of it while driving, lol. In any case, the timing of this thread is uncanny!
One of the more random ones that I have used (while people were orbiting around me on the game) was
grab it eat = gravitate
(yeah, yeah... I got my degree in English and not having access to vocabulary...Stinks!)
