VMK = Contest???
Some people are asking if VMK was only a "promotion," then doesn't that legally make it a contest? And if it was a contest, why weren't there rules posted -- like with any contest -- that said when the promotion/contest would end?

There are two kinds of promotions: "Sweepstakes" are games of chance, and "contests" are games of skill. If VMK is a promotion, then it is a game of skill, or a "contest." When we play VMK and do well, we earn credits, and buy clothes, magic, and more.

But contests are required by law to have a set of rules posted where everyone can see them -- like the ones you see on the sides of cereal boxes and on entry forms. One of the most important items they must always include are the dates of when the contest starts, and when it ends. Those rules help make it fair for everyone.

VMK does have a set of rules posted about the "promotion," but it is an End User License Agreement, which is "a binding legal agreement" attached to software, not contests. It defines VMK as software, not a promotion. And it doesn't say anything about May 21.

We don't know. If anyone does, please let us know??

If their roundabout logic can somehow prove that closing VMK is against the law, then I'm all for it. At least send it to WDIG so that reading it will cause their heads to explode.

Not all promotions are contests or sweepstakes.
Promotions are mostly just advertising, like VMK.

No offense but you seem to always bash people. She might have not as much legal knowledge and is asking. Read the last line! She is asking a question not making a statement. Judge Imagineer_Tech says case Re Opened.

The term promotion merely means it is something intended by its creators to promote something else, not that it is a contest. Another word for this is Advertising. Advertising is not regulated like contests are.
