I want a Vitamix! We are vegan and trying to eat more raw foods. We use our blender frequently to make smoothies, soups, and other pureed foods, and while it was a pretty high-quality blender when we got it, it's wearing out already. I really want a Vitamix, but they are expensive!

Anyone have one? Think it was worth the money? Know of any deals???

Haven't really been able to use it much. (Always on the go) I purchased it from QVC. I think Costco also sells them on occasion.

We are a smoothie making family. (whole fruit, no sugar added - loads of goodness!) We went through THREE blenders before finally getting a Vitamix.

That was 6 years ago, and our machine is still going strong. We love it, and its one of the best purchases we've made.

I know there are used ones out there, and if you sign up for the emails - they sometimes have refurb sales.

Hi. We need to be friends. :flower3: And you need to read my blog. http://www.anniessimplelife.blogspot.com. :hippie: :goodvibes (although my last post was me making the perfect hard boiled egg :rotfl:....oops) I did make a KILLER vegan banana bread the other day- that's going in as soon as I have the time to post the pictures... hopefully tonight.

ANYWAY...we're not vegan, but we do eat a LOT of raw and vegan meals (we're lacto-ovo veggies). My sister has a Vitamix and LOVES.IT. I'm so jealous- her hubby makes a lot of raw foods with it too.... a KILLER mayo out of cashews and a few other things (I need to get that recipe- it tasted like the real deal... so much so that I BUSTED OUT LAUGHING when I tried it!!!!). I just can NOT get my cashew cheeze to blend up in my blender like they can. Drives me 's. I always end up with little cashew chunks in my cheeze :lmao:. I have had a vitamix in my amazon wish list for EVER.... we'll see if we ever get one.

The thing is... if you go through 4 blenders, you have paid for a Vitamix, you know? They last FOR-EVER... and do EVERYTHING. Especially for us hippies :rotfl2:

I love your blog! Looks like you had great birthday!

I don't have a blog to share back, but my daughter's is great: it's www.veganculinarycrusade.com. Tons of excellent recipes!

I absolutely get what you are saying! My daughter (who has a Blendtec) makes wonderful nut cheeses that are beautifully smooth and very tasty. And when I have a green smoothie at her house - it's smooth. This morning my son and I tried to make a smoothie with frozen banana, chocolate almond milk, spinach, flax seed and almond butter. After much beating in the blender with a wooden spoon between blending attempts, we finally got smoothies with chunks of frozen banana and occasional strips of spinach. Not good. And that was a $200 blender. So I only need to go through 2.5 of those to pay for a Vitamix.

Hmmm.....

Love my Vitamix. Like one of the previous posters I got mine at QVC. I liked it because I could pay for it a bit each month while already having it.

We have made a ton of awesome stuff in ours. We even have the extra blade to make flours.

Love love love my Vitamix!! My husband and I bought it on a whim shortly after I came across a thread like this on another msg board....everyone raving about it. I had never heard of them before. It is like no other "blender" you've used before, I promise! I love my morning smoothies....have also made soups and breads, applesauce (rocks!), etc. Used it once to chop nuts...and pulverized them into dust before I could turn it off! LOL I've used it to make margaritas and dacquaries (sp?) too. It's SUPER easy to clean!! I really have nothing bad to say about it. I've never had anything turn out bad either. If I had to come up with a complaint it would be that it's loud....but most blenders are. I bought mine right from VitaMix. Great customer service!! Do it! You won't regret it. Worth every penny. :)

My neighbor has a Vitamix, I have a Blendtec. We both love ours and got them for the same reason, by the time you've replaced 3-4 relatively decent ($60-100) blenders, you may as well have paid for the king blender. I got a great deal on my Blendtec at Costco, she got a good deal on her Vitamix by calling them and saying she wanted one, but they weren't demo-ing at our Costco anytime in the coming year and she'd like to see it in action. She wasn't trying to get anything special, but they gave her what she said was a really good price. Somewhere around or less than the Costco demo price plus free shipping. So - it may be worth calling and seeing if they have any specials.

Another Vitamix LOVER! THe two items in my kitchen I'll never part with are my Vitamix and Kitchenaid.

I also bought the dry mix container and make my own rice and bean flours. It works like butter!

We use our Vitamix a lot. I use it to make protein shakes on lifting days (3x/week), plus we make green smoothies, too. I am happy enough with it, but FWIW, I know my DH feels he wishes we had bought a Blendtec instead.

That sounds like many-a-smoothie I make!! Looks like a lot of people like the vitamix! If it's in the budget, I say go for it!!! :goodvibes

I love your daughter's blog!!!! :thumbsup2

I love my vitamix. I got mine on a killer deal. A friend 6of mine decided that she wanted to buy a blendtec instead and sold me her used vitamix for $150. It was barely used at the time. I use it mostly green smoothies and soups. I've used it several times a week for 6 years and never had a problem with it at all. Good luck. Hopefully you can find a good deal on one as well.

The Vitamix factory is only a few minutes from my house. They are a very generous company when it comes to various fundraisers. I am helping to plan a military reunion and they gave us TWO machines (that's how they refer to them, NOT as "blenders") to use as door prizes!!! :thumbsup2

I noticed on the box that right before the model number, there are the letters "REC" which I am guessing means that they are re-conditioned machines. Maybe you could call and ask them if they have any reconditioned machines for sale...

Blendtec owner here and love it too! We use it at least twice daily for smoothies, soup, ice cream (back when we ate more sugar than we do now), butters, juices, etc. I think it's such a easy way to change to a healthier lifestyle and worth every penny.

Blendtec or Vitamix, you can't go wrong. But have to say I prefer the Blendtec because it's shorter so fits under my cupboard better and doesn't require the use of the plunger thingy and has different programmed buttons. Vitamix is obviously a great product too but I didn't think it would fit what I needed as well.

I just read in consumers magazine that Vitamix is rated the number 1 blender. followed by the ninja. I have the ninja and love it.

I saw that - but they also didn't test the Blendtec. I'm not sure why that was, but I thought it skewed the results a bit. Blendtec & Vitamix always come in neck and neck with each other. This year one is better, that year the other is better.....

I just bought one over the weekend at Costco, they come in and demonstrate, so they are not always there, but it was cheaper- $369. So far we love it!!

It also has a 7 year warranty if you register your purchase, which is pretty good!

Another fan... We bought ours at Costco. I think you can buy them on their website too.
