We love our Vitamix, use it at least daily. We originally got one about 20 years ago (they had a metal canister then), but 5 years ago upgraded to a variable speed one - and gave the old one to our daughter. Both are still going strong!
Costco usually demo's them 3 to 4 times a year, and it is the summer so state fair time (actually check closely here, I think those prices are higher!). Also on their website, www.vitamix.com, they often have refurbished units. If you can get access, restaurant supply stores carry them at good prices (I know Cash & Carry does) and we actually saw one at Bed Bath & Beyond the other day - if you have a 15% off coupon, it would be a steal!
