Im in the market for a new blender and I've been hearing the raves of the Vitamix blender. Right now it's on sale at Costco so it's a $50 difference more vs the Blendtec blender. The reviews are both 4-5 stars, but reading the reviews it seems 50/50. Does anyone have either one or experienced use of both of them? Wondering which one I should go with! Most of our use will be smoothies, milkshakes and blending fruits/veggies up for soups etc..

I highly recommend that you look into a Ninja before you decide. I really wanted a Vitamix before I read the Consumer Reports comparison. Vitamix was a TINY bit better than Ninja but only by a tiny bit and the Ninja still scored very high. I use that thing for everything - I even use it in place of my food processor. It's AMAZING. So glad I didn't spend more for a Vitamix.

I spent along time trying to decide between the two. I read tons of reviews and finally decided to go with the Blentec. I absolutely LOVE it! I make soups, smoothies, sauces, snow cones ect. I use it multiple times each week and it's been going strong for 1.5 years so far. The best part is it is so easy to clean.

We have a Vitamix. In my research, I found both the Vitamix and Blentec to be pretty evenly matched. The tamper tipped the Vitamix for us, but I think you will be pleased with either choice.

We were gifted a Ninja also. It gets the job done, but we use the Vitamix much more. If we had gotten the Ninja first, I probably would have never moved on to the Vitamix. That said, I hate all the parts and the way the handle locks on the Ninja. The texture of the food is a little different, but no huge differences. Also, the Ninja does not feel as sturdy as the Vitamix. It's not flimsy or anything, but unlike the Vitamix, I don't think it will be in my kitchen 30 years from now.

Both the Vitamix and Blendtec are made in the USA. I'd select either over the Ninja any day.

Blendtec. I love mine. You can even make pizza dough!

It is awesome

Thanks to everyone for the replies and comments! It's going to be a hard choice!

DH really wanted the Vitamix, but I didn't see the use. Finally, we bought it at Costco knowing their fabulous return policy. Well, that was 7 years ago and I LOVE our Vitamix! I'm on a restricted diet due to gastro issues and I cannot eat any whole seeds or nuts or skins on fruits and veggies. No worries with the Vitamix. If I accidentally buy the wrong kind of canned tomatoes, for example, I just put it in the Vitamix and the seeds and skins are gone! I make my own nut butters and hummus. We've made soups, dips, frozen treats. My recent favorite is homemade Vietnamese boba tea.

It is super easy to clean, too! The tamper is what tipped the scales to the Vitamix from the Blendtec for us. Sometimes you really do need to tamper down food or ice.

Vitamix is what we have. If you google vitamix vs blendtec they are very similar. But read some reviews on google. You might see a feature on one you must have. Of all blender options I'd stick with one or the other.

I know the ninja was mentioned. I have a friend who has three. Two dead ones he keeps for spare parts for the one that sort of works. He ended up with three because two died under warranty and the company replaced them. I was teaching his wife how to cook something one day and we had to use the ninja. I'll never buy one. It really is not a quality appliance and did a very poor job. But hey they do have a good replacement program :)

NINJA!:cool1: I read that article too..... my local Biglots store had them in stock lastyear for....69.00!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: I love that blender,it also came with a food processor attachment....I think the biggest diff. is the Ninja won't make soup..... but I can live without that feature

no ninja love here?:confused3 well, I love mine! ( a lot of my friends have the vitamix, nice, but not worth the extra $$$ IMHO)

This! We researched and researched and I ended up with a Ninja blender system too. Comes with the 72oz pitcher, a food processor bowl, dough maker, and 2 single serve cups with blending attachment. It's amazingly powerful.

This is the one I bought. I got it at BJs a few months ago when they ran a coupon for it. The coupon was wrong and showed the wrong system but they honored it so I got it for $100!

Vitamix!!! I LOVE mine :lovestruc I make green smoothies, soups, ice-cream etc. The tamper makes the texture better in my opinion and I think it looks sturdier than the blendtec.

I am a Vitamix owner myself and did months of research between Vitamix and Blendtec, even narrowing it down to one and then changing my mind over and over. Bottom line: You will absolutely love whichever one you choose.

I chose the Vitamix in the end for a few reasons. I did not want preprogrammed timers such as "Smoothie", or "Ice Cream" because in reviews (watch YouTube reviews of both!) they only work well if you use the exact same ratio of ingredients every time. One day I may be adding more frozen fruit than usual and the timed setting isn't long enough that day so you end up having to do a second timed cycle. I would rather have total control over how long I blend on a lower speed, then work my way up...or even go faster and slower several times. I wanted the personal control of the Vitamix.

Second, the Blendtec has a sexy electronic control panel, while the Vitamix has a plain mechanical switch control system. Hands down the Blendtec is prettier, no contest, but the Vitamix controls will certainly last much longer. Simplicity wins in this case. Electronic controls will fail for certain...not saying it's not a quality blender, it is, but it just won't last as many years as a Vitamix without needing parts. Deal breaker? No, but something to consider.

Third, the tamper. Some folks don't want to have to tamp. It ends up being a bonus in my opinion. If your ratio is off in the Blendtec, you'll still need to scrape your pitcher. With the Vitamix, you have the tamper which doesn't require you to remove the lid. You don't have to use the tamper, but it shoves the food down into the blades making it faster and pulverized fruit seeds, etc with no problem. It's convenient. It's awesome if you make any purées, like butternut squash or sweet potato.

One final thought is that I chose the Vitamix Pro 300 because it can fit under standard cabinets and it also came with a giant pitcher (64oz). I think the Blendtec does also but I don't remember for sure. I love the way liquids pour from the Vitamix pitcher, but can't compare to the Blendter since I haven't physically held one.

Ultimately they are incredibly similar so you will love either. There are small differences which may lead you one way or another. Think hard before deciding like I did and really research. I changed my mind several times and I know I made the correct choice. We use our Vitamix almost daily for green smoothies, Grand Marnier slushies (Epcot), purées, paleo brownie bites (which involves chopping nuts and dates into a dough-like consistency), etc. I did make muffin batter in it once but found it a bigger pain than mixing by hand which is why I wouldn't bother making pizza dough in it either but some people love it for that.

Vitamix! I've only had our for about 5 months now but I absolutely love it and use it almost daily.

I just wanted to edit to add I did try the Ninja system before getting a Vitamix and they don't compare at all. I thought the Ninja was great until I used the Vitamix and saw the difference. So even though the Ninja is cheaper, I still say the Vitamix is a better investment.

Another NINJA lover here! Best blender we've ever had!

I paid $375 shipped for a "Certified Reconditioned Standard Programs" Vitamix off of the Vitamix website. Ive hadO problems. I use it at least once a day to make smoothies....and there is so much more you can do with it than smoothies. Soo easy to clean too. I can't speak for other brands as I have never owned another brand.

My Mom bought a Vitamix about 35 years ago and my sister now has it and it still works fabulously.

I bought my Vitamix from Costco about 6 years ago and LOVE it!

I will probably never have to buy another blender:thumbsup2
