Visual Aids at Disney World

Hi guys,

I use a ton of visual aids for my autistic son. He has difficulty with non preferred activities and schedule changes so a visual schedule helps to get us through the day. He knows exactly what is going to happen and in what order. My question is has anyone used a visual schedule at WDW?

For my sanity, I will create a one but has anyone actually used one? If so, did it help or was it just something extra to deal with? How detailed was it? I'm thinking something super simple like a picture of the park, a picture of the word "break", picture of a meal, etc.

I would do something very simple ( because things could change rides go down things like that)

so your idea of parks breaks meals and maybe rides ( but I would not let him know a bout the ride until it is time to go on it)

Multiple people have posted in the past about using visual schedules.
In order to make it useful, it needs to be somewhat specific - for example, have your planned rides listed - but, be able to be changed quickly as needed.

This is a link to a visual schedule folder one person made. She's a scrapbooker and this was no the first one she made, so hers might be more 'fancy' than you have in mind. It still has a lot of good ideas that could be simplified.

Here's another - it's a bit simpler with many good ideas:

And here's another fairly simple one. It's not a visual schedule, but communication cards about things her child might need to talk about at WDW:

This is wonderful! Thank you so much

If he uses a communication device or communication app, I have some other suggestions.

He doesn't, but I actually just did a little research. I had never heard of this method before. I'm going to discuss it with his therapist.
