So, my parents own through Intervale at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. They traded their November week for us to go in August. We put in a 'request' a few weeks ago, and nothing has been available at the Resorts. On Monday I called to increase our chances, and I added the Villages to the request. We got a confirmation email yesterday for the Vistana Villages!:cool1: Now, we've ALWAYS stayed at the Vistana Resorts, so I'm looking for some comparisons....I realize they're 'newer' and in a different location (which actually is a plus, because we are doing Universal this time, too) But how are the pools, traffic, grounds.....? We love the Vistana Resort, so I'm hoping that we will be just as satisfied with the Villages. (I guess, either way, we're at Disney, so I can't complain...:goodvibes )

The Villages are like the newest section of the Vistana (the 5-story buildings in the middle of the property). The units are 2-br, 2 bath with jacuzzi tub in the master, usually a balcony (mine overlooked the pool), a nice kitchen / laundry area, and a comfortable living room.

I've been to the Villages once (Dec 06). I did not use the pool but it looks a lot larger with more deck space than the main pool at the Vistana.

Villages does not have a traffic light at its exit the last time I drove by. (There could be a light there now as a new resort was going up across the street). If you want to make a left turn to go toward Disney, you will wait a few minutes.

The on-site snack bar was closed for renovation during my stay. No big loss as there is a Publix supermarket one block away.

Bottom line: It's a nice resort with quality accommodations.
It's a nice resort.

Thanks for the info...
At the Resorts, we've stayed at the Springs, Spas, and Cascades (twice). My favorite, by far, was the Cascades-which I believe are the newer ones. :goodvibes

I prefer the villages over the resort. It is less crowded than the resort but the unit seemed a little smaller. The Villages is only a few miles from Seaworld and pretty close to Universal. We will be there in April. Have a great time.

I love vistana villages so much so that my husband and I bought a timeshare there. It is alot quiter than the resorts and the pool is awesome... they also have a smaller adults only pool!! The rooms themselves and the ammenities are terrific and alot newer than the resorts. I do not think you will be disappointed at all!!

The resort is closest to seaworld and universal but also not far from disney which is nice as well.

Id stay at the villages again in a heartbeat but NEVER again at Vistana..
no comparision in my opinion. Its a newer, more compact higher spec resort with nicer pool area and much more amenable staff..

Just as a future FYI, I do not believe any II Orlando resort can trade into DVC, there is a regional block.

Can someone tell me which sections of the Vistana Resort was recently remodeled?

Yes....Lakes is done (or very near done).
Fountains will be next........followed by Fountains II (both should be done by mid to late August----Fountains I will most likely be complete first). Springs and Falls will be late in the year or early 2009.

my family has stayed at both. We loved the VVillages. The pool was very nice with zero entry and a waterfall. There was also a quiet pool with large cabanas that were very nice. My family went down there in the evenings to enjoy a swim and some late night snacks(we brought them ourselves). It was beautifully landscaped and the decor in the units was very upscale - more like a home, less like a hotel room. It is maybe five minutes away from the Vistana Resort. We stayed in Cascades at Vistana, so we had a newer unit. We enjoyed both, but I liked the decor and quiet pool better at Vistana Villages. There were really nice basketball courts and a gym at VV that my boys enjoyed. Have a wonderful stay.

We have been to both VV and VR and I prefer the Villages. It is actually my favorite place we have ever stayed. You will love it.

Hi

My husband and I own a two Bedroom at Vistana Resort (the Lakes section) which is part of the Starwood Vacation Network.

We had to change the dates for our upcoming trip pretty close to our travel date and there wasn't anything available at Vistana Resort for the dates we were looking for. There is availability at Vistana Villages in a 1 Bedroom so we'll stay for longer than a week.

We've tried Vistana Villages once before in a two bedroom and were very happy with it.

I have never tried their one bedroom villas. It's the smaller one bedroom as opposed to the bigger one bedroom since that is all that was available.

Any experience with the smaller one bedrooms at Vistana Villages would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Noreen

For those of you that have stayed at the Vistana Villages, do you have a section that you recommend? Looking for an updated, clean unit that has a nice view.... Thanks for your help!

We stayed in the newest building(can't remember number) in the first section built. It was behind the basketball courts. It was close to the main pool and a new section. We did not want to stay in the key west section because we liked the main pool better.
