I have stayed at Vistana before and really enjoyed my time there. I was considering staying at Ditka's Lighthouse Key resort this fall but I have some concerns.

1. The commute. We will be going to the WDW parks everyday. The travel time from Vistana was almost non-existant. How is the commute from 192 and Lighthouse Key?

2. Lighthouse Key gets consistently good reviews on "review" websites but I would like to hear it straight from my friends on the DIS. So, if you've been to Lighthouse Key, what did you like best? and what do you think could be improved on....also the commute question above.

3. Vistana's condos were very well equipped. Are Lighthouse Keys? Or will I have to bring some of my own stuff (towels, cooking utensils etc)

And just some background, it will be me and DH (ignore siggy that says POFQ I haven't changed it yet :guilty: ) off-site. Another couple will be traveling with us and they are pretty much game to stay anywhere.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

I haven't stayed at Vistana before, so I can't comment on that. But I have stayed at Lighthouse Key (we were there Feb 7-17).

We had 15 people staying in suites and everyone loved the hotel. The decor was beautiful and it was very comfortable.

On two occasions we found some ants in our suite. None of the other family members had this problem. They promptly sent someone up to spray and were told they were because of the construction site next door. We also had someone come into our room when were were a bit too slow to answer it. They were two males who we were not able to understand (called downstairs and it turns out they were part of the turndown service and I don't think they came back). We also found the service was a bit iffy at times. I don't know if they ever cleaned our suite before 5:00 (several times we came back at 2-3 and the suite was as we left it). Our family members also found that they were spotty with leaving things during the cleaning - not enough coffee, not enough towels, no toilet paper, etc. They did bring them when requested.

This makes it sound really bad, but we were really all quite happy with it. I found the drive not to be a problem (though there was occasionally traffic on the 192 that we had to wait in a few times). There were lots of restaurants and stores around us. And I've done a lot of looking, but the concept of two master bedrooms seems pretty unique to LHK. With the 3,4 bedroom suites, they have two rooms with king beds, and huge bathroom with a jetted tub. This was a big plus to my family, which had a lot of adults. I didn't cook a lot, so I'm not sure about supplies. I never heard my family complain about it, and they did quite a bit of cooking.

Just a note if you're travelling as part of two couples. The two-bedroom suite we had had a day bed (with a trundle bed underneath) in the second room. So it'd probably be necessary to get a 3 bedroom.

Hope this helps!
