Just got a Vistana unit through Skyauction and I just wondered if anyone has stayed there and might have some information for me.
Is there somewhere near by to get groceries? What is close by for shopping and dining? How easy is it to get to Disney or Universal and about how long a drive.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks everyone!

DH & I have owned at Vistana for 6 years now. We love it there! Last time we were there, 2002, the grocery store that we prefered was the Publix on 192. (Take a right out of the main entrance and Pulix is a t the corner of 535 and 192.) There are factory outlets right on 535 nearby and plenty of restaurants. We enjoyed the Cattleman's and Pebbles and Jungle Jims which are all within a couple of miles, in either direction, from the main entrance to Vistana. Both Disney and Universal are easy to travel to, although Disney is much closer. Here is a map to show you where they are located in relation to the parks. http://www.starwoodvo.com/resorts/directions.jsp?resortID=5&view=

You're going to have a great time! When are you visiting?

Thanks for the information. We are travelling on May 29th. What I didn't realize was that it was Memorial Day Weekend. We are Canadian, our holiday weekend is the weekend before!

We are staying one night at Universal at the Royal Pacifac to take advantage of the FOTL.

Otherwise, the plan is to lay around, eat and read.

Rebecca, do you mind telling me what you paid in total? We stayed there when they first opened in 2002 and we loved it! We got a great deal and it was more than we expected! The kitchen, appliances, dinnerware was all so clean and new, it was like having my own Florida condo. There was a huge jacuzzi tub in the main bedroom, connecting toilet area and then a second shower area so if more than one person needed to get ready at the same time it was not a problem. We had a pull out sofa where the kids slept and we enjoyed the luxury of a king bed in our seperate bedroom. The pool area is GREAT with a huge freeform waterfall pool plus a second seperate smaller warmer (adult only?can't remember) pool all very well laid out. There is a small take out grill area that was slow and expensive but great for poolside drinks (we made most of ours in our own blender in the unit)The parking was good as the lot runs parallel to the buildings so you could almost always find a spot by your unit. There is a nice quiet walking trail that ran by a small water feature pond.I found it close to everything and actually prefered this location to others we have stayed in as it felt open and luxurious like a resort should not crammed on the side of a freeway or among many other buildings. All in all, it was excellent value for the $$$ but I have never seen it as cheap as it was that time (I LOVE finding a bargain)You will enjoy this place for sure!

Dear Alohamom:

I had to pay $439. total for Vistana. It had been considerably cheaper in the couple of weeks before but I was being frugal and thought the price would come down. WRONG. Normally I would not be flying and I buy with the idea that we are driving and I can adjust our plans but this time I was caught and it was a long weekend to boot.
