We are going on our 2nd trip to Orlando within a month and our Visitor Toll Pass app is still stuck on the last trip. I called their customer service and they said I had to create a new account for each new trip (that doesn’t sound right). I haven’t tried that yet and I don’t know if I need a second email address, which I don’t have. Does anyone have any experience or advice re: this?

On the sign in page, there is a “Clear Cache” button on the upper right that can be clicked, but I didn’t want to do that without knowing the outcome.

Thanks for any help and direction.

They were correct when they said you need to create a new account for each trip. I was told after every trip, your account is closed. You can use the same email address but you will have to pick a new User Name. I just started using the Trip Date as my User Name. MonthYear

Brilliant! Worked perfectly. I can sign in under the past trip username and still see tolls charged, etc. and then close the app, reopen it and sign in under the upcoming trip and get the QR code I’ll need at the MCO kiosk. I so appreciate your help! Thank you! :flower3:

Wow, in this day and age, that's a pretty inefficient system! We opted many years ago to get a SunPass account and transponder, that's worked great when we're vacationing in Florida. Glad I don't need to create a new account every trip!

But at least you'll have it working for your next trip!

I have had a few problems with visitor toll pass, too. Like thanxfornoticin I just switched to a Sunpass Pro transponder which has suction cups on it enabling me to move it from car to car and it works in 22 other states. The account lets you specify a time to end the transaction (and also lets you note that it is a rental car) and you can delete the rental car information after the rental car is returned.

I had a similar problem to what Perdita&Pongo experienced. As you know they load $10.00 onto the account and automatically add to it if you exhaust the first $10.00. If you don't use all of the first $10.00 they are supposed to refund it after you turn in the VTP. But, if it somehow gets stuck--your refund doesn't get issued until it becomes unstuck. In my case it was more than a month later when I tried to log in and get another VTP for another trip.

On another occasion I had a problem when I left on an earlier flight. I turned the rental car (and VTP) in early. I updated my VTP account earlier in the day --even received a confirmation email. So I was surprised to be charged for a couple of tolls after my rental car had been returned. (They turn those cars around pretty fast!) I called VTP about it and they told me the system would not register any changes that were submitted less than 24 hours in advance--so they did not refund for the tolls that were charged after I turned in the rental car.

I agree with the assessment that VTP is a pretty antiquated system and a little frustrating to use.

The last couple of rentals we’ve had on the SunPass Pro, when I went to remove the car from our account I found that the car had already dropped off! (I’m always going to check anyway, of course.)

If you mark it as a rental it will no longer show in the default view which has a “Show Active Vehicles” and only your plate.

If you uncheck it you can then see the rental cars and delete them if you wish.

Thanks - good to know. It’s reassuring that SunPass knew it wasn’t active so quickly!

I've noticed that, too. On our last rental it was almost countdown to extinction getting off the toll road before the time expired at noon (Our last toll was at 11:48am!) I didn't want to extend the time because we were at the airport. Anyway, our rental vehicle had disappeared from the list of active vehicles.
There is a little box right above the vehicles that are listed: X "Show Active Vehicles"

If you unselect the "Show Active Vehicles" box, it will display vehicles that have not been removed.
Our rental vehicle was already displayed on this list of inactive vehicles--but it did reflect the noon expiration time.

I always delete the rental vehicles after we turn them in --even though they may no longer be active.
