We are staying at BWV in a couple of weeks. My dad and his friend would like to drive over from Tampa one afternoon to visit with us. Do you think if he explained the situation at the security check and gave our name/room number, that they would be allowed to park for a couple of hours? Our plan is to eat somewhere (maybe Big River Grille) and/or ride the Skyliner. We could meet them in Disney Springs if this wouldn't work, but it would be a lot more convenient if they could just meet us at the resort. Since BWI isn't opened yet, I figured parking shouldn't be too much of a problem, but didn't know how strict they're being in this kind of situation. Thanks.

You should have no issues having day guests.

Your dad just needs to tell the guard at the gate that they are visiting "you" and your room number is helpful but optional. He will just need to provide a photo id the guard may just wave them through or pause to look up your reservation.

While it's generally not a problem, BWI can be the exception. There isn't much parking there and they may not allow him to park in the resort lot. There is an overflow lot across the street from BWI. He made be directed to park over there and then walk over to the Boardwalk. All depends on how full the lot is when he gets there and how the guard is feeling that day.

Right now parking is not an issue at the Boardwalk. There are no conventions at the BWI Convention Center and most of the activities on the Boardwalk are currently unavailable.

Also the parking lot behind the Speedway Gas station has been employee parking for many years.

ESPN Zone - closed
Ample Hills Creamery - closed
Flying Fish - closed
Dueling Pianos - closed
Atlantic Dance - closed
Boardwalk games - closed

Thanks, Dave. The have visited us there in the past with no issue, but I wasn't sure if there would be problems because of the current Covid restrictions. I've read where people can't just visit resorts these days unless they have an ADR or arrive by Disney transportation. I was hoping since the parking lot wouldn't be be packed since BWI isn't operating yet (and like you said in your other post, no conventions going on or the other typical things happening on the boardwalk right now), that it wouldn't be a problem, but I wanted to make sure. I know you post a lot of good info on the BWI/BWV thread, so your answer gives me some comfort with our plan. Thank you!

We just got back last week we stayed at AKV and SSR. One of the days we were at SSR my Aunt and Uncle that live locally wanted to come visit with us, see the kids etc. for a few hours before we had a group dinner reservation at Boathouse. I called front desk a couple days before to double check on any restrictions there may be. They said it was no problem to host visitors, but did ask them to park at the Carriage House area. However when they arrived the guard shack told them they could park by our building. I would recommend just double checking before hand so there are no hiccups/disappointments.
