Visiting with EDS, need a push chair or wheel chair...

See, the more you mention the more pops up. Those dining reservations; plan wisely and it can become a perfect rest moment. Well............. for kids those reservations without a caracter meeting. :rotfl2: So I would keep those without meetings for days/moments you know might be a bit tougher on her.

In certain restaurants there are a group of tables that do not just have chairs but also a bench. For instance at Chef Mickeys. It might take a bit longer wait if you ask to be seated at such a location, but these could be a good option if she is done with sitting and could do with a bit of a lie down and would be OK with that being on a bench. She can still eat, she can still get up and hug the caracters but ideal if she's seat-poofed out. Take off her shoes (we all sit on the bench after all), and if need be have a easy to take along pillow with you if she is sensitive in neck/shoulder area. On top of my head I know there are also benches at Beaches&Creams (but all are walk up), Sci-Fi, Kona. There are more, but memory fails me to put names to the pics in my head of restaurant images.

Know about the PM, you got a reply back on the same day. :thumbsup2

Thanks goofieslonglostsis and Sue :) We are staying at POR and will likely be using the buses so the choice to stay in her chair or ride in the bus seat will be 'mostly' hers. I agree with goofieslonglostsis, in that at the end of a day in the parks she would likely opt to stay in her chair. We have a package that includes a dining plan and some extra reservations for character dining too, and a budget for souvenirs set already so the $25 won't be a burden, but I will check with our homeowners policy just in case it would possibly cover anything while we are there with the chair. All in all the insurance would give me a little extra piece of mind, a good thing for a mere $25.00::yes::

Thanks again folks

PS.. goofieslonglostsis, I sent you a PM
just so you know - she would not have the option to stay in the chair on the bus with the Liberty Pushchair.

All ECVs, unfolded wheelchairs and unfolded strollers need to be secured on the bus with tiedown straps.
In order to safely do that with a stroller so someone can stay in it, the special needs stroller has to be designed with stronger frame and places where the tiedown straps can be attached. This is called a 'transport option' that someone already mentioned.

Because of the light weight and easy folding design of the Liberty Pushchair, it does not have a transport option available. Some drivers might tie it down anyway, but just the tying down process could damage the frame.
(The tiedown involves attaching large, heavy metal hooks to the frame and then pulling them tight. I would estimate the hooks weigh at least a pound.

Thanks Sue. I guess we will make due. I think the push chair will be a better option for her than a wheel chair, unless I look into kids size chairs ??? Thats a whole other road to explore I guess... :confused3

Even if she can't stay in it in the bus you can still use the back door ramp and board her and have her transfer to a seat the Fold the chair. That of you want that option it their for you.

I made our reservations for Saturday evening the day we arrive and for Wednesday morning for a character breakfast at Tusker House, (my DD request for that one, she has been wanting to eat breakfast there for 3 long years). We have taken bi annual Disney vacations for the past 10 years, even before DD was born. Our last trip was 2009, before she was diagnosed. She was already symptomatic with a few hospital stays under her belt by then but not nearly as painful as she is now 4 years later. She was diagnosed with EDS at 6 years old and we postponed our 2011 trip because she was in the hospital. She has been wanting to return to Disney so badly, (and me too :yay: ), so I have booked for November on faith. I think she will do fine as long as we rest when she needs it and take it slow. This is her trip...:lovestruc

Great advice! Thank you. Believe me I appreciate everyone's input here. I am striving to make this a magical, memorable experience for her!
