Visiting Universal while staying at Disney

I'm not sure which forum to post this question in, so I'm just guessing. We're thinking about taking our kids (10 & 12 by the time we go) to DW this year during Christmas vacation. Both of our kids are Harry Potter crazy and have read the books probably 20 times over. We can't see being in Orlando and not visiting the new Harry Potter park at Universal. So my question is this, if we are staying on site at DW, how easy is it to get to Universal for one day. Is it better to rent a car, is there easily accessible public transportation or a cab that would be better? Thanks for the help in advance.

If I were you - I'd book one night at a Universal resort.

I wouldn't want to attempt Harry Potter at Christmas without the Universal Express - which is complementary for on-site resort guests. It's also unlimited.

I think I've read that the exception to the unlimited rule is the Journey of Harry Potter ride? I don't remember the exact name - but Flight of the Hippogriff and the former Dueling Dragons will offer the unlimited express. The other new Harry Potter Ride - you'll only be able to use Express once per guest per day.

I second the getting a room at Universal for one night. It's well worht it, and I will never go to UNiversal again without Univ Express!
