We were originally going to stay at the campsites next month, but due to DS possibly needed to see a specialist and have minor surgery we are trying to save some cash and will now be staying off-site (BOOO!!!!). Now onto my question, how do we go about checking out the fort? We have reservations for there next December and I want to scope it. Do we ask at the gate or will we need reservations for somewhere?? I know there is usually a 3 hour time limit which I am thinking it we would be in and out in an hour.

Please advise.

Thanks :)

We are only going to MK for the party and want to maximize our time there. I did think about this and might do it, if all else fails.

Assuming you are driving. Since you have to get the TTC eventually, park at the TTC, get over to the MK and then take the boat to FW.

Just think about how much you may want to do at FW and get to the TTC accordingly. If you park at FW you are going to have to sort of exit out of the area and then get back onto the road to the TTC.

Its a nice boat ride and if you done at FW early just boat to WL or the Contemporary. If at the Contemporary just walk to the MK.

that doesn't seem like a lot of time. Where and when are your reservations?

ETA II: If you park at FW you will have to take an internal bus to get anywhere, the boat is most likely taking you right where you want to be, so factor that into your plans. Also check out the Camping Forum, you will get a lot more info there.

To my knowledge, and from staying there & visiting there ........ unless you have a campsite/cabin reservation you will not be permitted to take your car inside the campground. You will have to park at the gate (big parking lot for this purpose) and then take an internal bus that travels around in the campground. You could do this and just get an overview, you can get off and on as they come by. By taking the boat you get to the Pioneer Hall and can see all that area by walking, but then would need to get on the internal bus to look at other areas.

I would just take the boat over from Magic Kingdom.:)

I didn't think we would be allowed to actually take our car inside the campground. I just wanted to make sure we would be able to do it. Looks like we will be taking a cruise around on a bus during an off day.

Thanks.

We want over to FW a few trips ago on a non-park day to just look around. Anyone can park in the main parking lot and then take the circulator bus around the resport.
