I'm sure there are others that do this. We like to check out other resorts while we're there to see if maybe we want to stay in a different one on a future trip. We have stayed at:
the Poly
AKL
AllStars (movies and sports)

We have visited on other trips:
BWI
BC
WL
CR
GF

Is there a resort you would recommend checking out? Why? TIA!

Looks like you have checked out all deluxe resorts, I almost always stay in the deluxe but started checking out the moderates just so see what they were like. Since I started doing that, I'm now a huge fan of the split stay, starting out for a day or two at a mod then stepping up to a deluxe for the last part of the stay. I would say, start with POR, it will seem huge but it's not really and bonus, there is a boat that will take you to Disney Springs so you can go there without relying on the bus.

I would check out Port Orleans French Quarter, it's is absolutely gorgeous. Really, it feels like walking around a beautiful town! Also the food court has beignets, I've only had the gluten free ones and those were pretty amazing so I have to imagine the gluten containing ones are great too! Like PP said, the convenience of taking a boat to DS is great! There's quite a distance between French Quarter and Riverside but on a nice day the walk is stunning!

Saratoga, particularly if you like the Springs/downtown area. Easily walkable from the marketplace. The resort itself is very spread out. But if you are ever considering villas, and or want to be near the Springs, it is something you may want to check out.

Pop and AofA. Both places are fun places to walk around. Pop has some neat shadow boxes in the lobby. AOfA's theming is incredible, especially the Cars section. And both food courts offer lots of variety. The walk around the lake is oh so peaceful. :goodvibes Plus you get to hit two resorts at the same time.

AoA - mainly the Cars section of the resort. It's just adorable. I also think walking out of the main lobby, past the Big Blue Pool - and over to the bridge that connects AoA and Pop is a pleasant scenic view. The lake/bridge/view between those two resorts is nice.

Also because AoA family suites work well for us when we don't want to pay the higher price of a DVC 1 bedroom.
