We are staying at the Poly but I would lilke to check out the Boardwalk. What would the best way to get there be? Should we hit it after Epcot or DS and walk over on the walkway? How far of a walk would it be? Or should we take the boat over from Epcot?

I would definitely advise going after Epcot. The walkway form the World Showcase to BW isn't too far at all. We usually stay at either BC or BW for this reason. I would estimate it at the most 10-15 minutes. The boat is nice too, the first stop form Epcot is the BW. But that is definitely the easiest way to get over to the BW.

I am going to guess you won't have a car while your there, so why not take the Resort Monorail or boat to the Magic Kingdom, then get on the bus to the Boardwalk. Also another option if you don't mind paying for it would be a taxi, because it's faster then any from of WDW transportation.

Never thought of Taxis..how easy is it to get one from the resort? We will also need to get over to Wilderness Lodge and AKL for dinners.

We stayed at the CR in Dec, but wanted to visit a number of resorts to see the holiday decorations. We tried to schedule those visits around the parks we were going to. Since HS is a shorter day for us (2 adults who've seen all the shows, so we just go for the 3 big rides :-), we took the boat back down from HS to check out BW, BC and YC.

But access to the MK buses is a great option too. The day we were going to AK we weren't worried about rope drop. So we walked over to the MK, caught a bus to AKL and wandered there for a little while, before catching a bus from there to AK (much like CR Resort Fan's suggestion to hop the resort monorail to MK and catch a bus to BW).

Have fun.

If there are not a few Taxis just parked outside the main entrance then a Cast Member will call for one and it will be there within 5 minutes.
