When we return from our DCL vacation, I would like to take my kids to SSR (our home resort), have lunch and look over the resort. We just returned from an adult only stay for our first time seeing the resort we purchased into. I love SSR and want to show my kids how wonderful it is.

Since we don't have lodging at SSR or any Disney resort, can we get onto the property with our car, via the boat from DD or walking? Would they ask us to leave if we were not staying there?

TIA!

I sure hope so, since we are planning on doing the same thing on our next trip. We bought SSR sight unseen .... so we're all curious. :)

There shouldn't be any problem with you driving to the resort and walking around. We went in August and spent the afternoon there, touring the models, had dinner at Artist's Palette and walked around the grounds. We were trying to decide whether SSR or AKV should be our home resort. SSR suited my family's vacation style better between the pools, walking paths in the resort and to DTD and the recreation facilities, plus seeing that we would rent bicycles clinched the deal for me.

SSR has the DVC models for AKV and SSR, so there people walking around all the time in that area of the community hall.

It's a wonderful place to call home!

You could drive to SSR even if you weren't a member. There is no problem in visiting the various WDW resorts. Just tell the guard why you are there, show some ID and in you go. Note, though that you might have a harder time doing this at the Contemporary.

You should be able to drive up, walk around, shop, dine, etc. But you can't go swimming at the pool unless you are using points at another DVC resort for that time period. Everything else is fair game.
