Hey there! We're DVC members planning a vacation to HHI but our dates are totally booked for points and $$$ at the DVC location. We'll probably try to find a place in Shipyard or Palmetto Dunes.

Has anyone visited the beach house or been able to use any of the Disney amenities (happy to pay of course) when they are not staying on property? Any tips about this? We'd really like to see what the resort is like and do some of the family "stuff" as available.

To reinforce, we're DVC members (direct contract, but HHI is not home resort) and willing to pay. Thoughts? Experiences? Suggestions?

You have to have a room key to access the beach house. I have never heard of anyone paying to have access. You would be able to walk into the main resort area and walk around, check out the mercantile and the quick service area.

I remember that there's a guard shack on the road shortly before the Beach House, and I don't know if they'll let you past without a resort parking pass. Maybe if you tell the front desk at the resort that you'd like to see the Beach House, I don't know if they'd get you a parking pass or not.

If you get a place in Palmetto Dunes you will be able to use the outside window at the beach house as well as parking there to access the beach. This is part of Disney's arrangement with the community of Palmetto Dunes. There are also bathrooms attached to the beach house that are accessible by Palmetto Dunes residents. What I mean by the outside window is to get food and drink from the fast food place. It's called Signals. Food is good and they had dole whips when I was last there. The public access is walled off from the member access, but it's the same beach. We've been members at HH for the last 17 years and will be there over the July 4th holiday this year. When is your visit?

You will not be able to come into the beach house or use the pool or bar area, unless you get access through the resort.

Perhaps DVC "pre arranged" might allow you to take a guided tour, but highly doubtful unless you are staying there that you could use facilities for the day. I would imagine:scratchin that there isn't enough available staff to give guided tours and that DVC management would dissuade "daily" use passes at any of the resorts, since some are overcrowded enough.:scared1: ENJOY HHI, we were only there once in May, before "high season", loved HHI, had fabulous weather. SO MUCH to do, biking, fabulous restaurants, beautiful beaches.:beach:
