Visiting friends in resort if staying offsite?

Heading down later this week with some friends who are staying in Copper Creek. We will be at one of the Disney Springs resorts. I think there will be a few days we’re gonna want to drive over to them and head to the park together. What are the current rules about getting into a resort that you are not staying in? Can I just give them their name at the gate?

Other option I was thinking was to have them just add my name to the reservation so presumably by magic band would work, or I don’t know if they still have physical key cards they can get an extra of for me.

What is best way do you think??

I don't know if this will help, but my daughter usually comes down for a few days visit while we are at WDW. I informed the person at the front desk and she said that I could just register her as a day guest and I wouldn't be charged for the 3 days. I thought that was very kind of her and it worked. As far as getting into the resort? She just told the gate that she was visiting us and gave them the information. She had no problems.
Now post covid? I don't know if any of that has changed. But I would definitely let the front desk know when she is coming.

If they place you on their reservation, then they will have to pay the extra adult fee for every night. But, assuming that you are not going to be using the resort amenities, you can give their names at the gate and tell the guard that you are visiting them or just picking them up.

They just need to give guard your last name and room number.

We have people visit us almost everytime we stay on property without any issues.

Perfect. (And I assume you mean that I would just give them their name and room number when I go to pick them up). If they won’t give any troubles with thst thst definitely just seems easiest!

This is the answer. They can also park at DS and take the bus to the resort but when we are on property we have some FL family visit us just about every time and all they need to do is give the front gate our name. I don't even think they ask the room number since we don't really ever tell our family the room number, but it wouldn't hurt.

Just another point of view but I'm reading this as you will be driving to a Disney resort you are not staying at to park your car and then go to the park for the day, therefore avoiding the theme park lot. I think this is a bit different than going to stop in and have lunch or drinks with them or hang out in their villa. Parking at a resort to go to a park, when you are not staying there is traditionally not okay, according to these boards.

I get it, we have been in this same situation numerous times. We set up a time in the parks in the morning to meet and then spend out day together. We park in the theme park lot.

Does anyone know if you can add people to your reservation for just one night? Our kids are thinking of taking a flight that would not land until 1 am, then spending the night with us. The next day we are moving to Universal for 3 days. Anyone had someone come in the middle of the night? Do you just tell the guards the name on the reservation?

Technically, you should make the front desk aware that you have additional guests checking in for that one night. As long as they don't make your room over capacity, you would only need to pay for the extra adult fees.
