Visiting Cat - WWYD???

Sorry to not post yesterday, it was one of those days!!!

She wasn't around in the morning yesterday so i thought maybe she went home or someone else took her in. Last night I walked past the front door and there she was on the porch. My daughter went out to say hi and the poor cat spooked because my dog was inside howling. (She howls like Chewbacca when she gets excited) We didn't see her for the rest of the night. This morning when I went to leave for work she was back and so happy to see me. I thought ok, here is my chance and picked her up. When I tried to put her into the carrier she wasn't having any parts of it. I tried again, no success. I went to put my stuff in the car and she followed me to the driveway. I picked her up again and this time she tensed up a bit so I put her down. She went to the end of the driveway and stared at me lol. I had to go to work, was already running a bit behind so I figure I will try again tonight. I did call our local animal shelter to see if anyone had reported her missing and they said no one had. The lady atgthe shelter said that the cat might be going home in between her visits here so maybe hadn't been reported missing but she thought it to be strange that she is drawn to our house since she doesn't know us and we don't have cats. I am going to need assistance getting her into the carrier so hopefully she will come back tonight while one of my kiddos are home (or ideally she will go home and stay there).

It is supposed to get pretty cold over the weekend so I am going to try my best to help her out.

You're a very kind and caring person to look out for the welfare of this sweet kitty. I hope you are able to reunite her with her owners or find a good new home for her if you are unable to take her in.

I used to have the sweetest gray kitty- he was an indoor/outdoor cat. When he was about a year old, he started disappearing. He'd be gone for a couple of days, then he'd show up at home again. I tried keeping him inside, but of course had to finally let him out. He'd sometimes disappear for a couple of weeks at a time, but always came back, healthy, well-fed, and in good shape. I decided he must have a second home. This went on for about 5 years, until I had to move. He'd been gone for over a month at that point, so I've always hoped that he just decided to live at his other home. I had dreams about him for years.

Thank you for the very kind words! I am hopeful that she will end of somewhere where she will be very happy whether it is back with her real family or with another family. I would love to keep her, I have always wanted a siamese cat but I'm not sure how she and my dog would mesh and I am so allergic to cats.

Not surprising. Even our very calm cats turn crazy when it's time to get in the carrier.

Does the cat ever nap around your house? Sneaking up while they're sleeping is the easiest way.

I got some treats yesterday. We will be outside all day today cleaning up the yard so I am hoping that today is our day. I am going to put a few treats in the back of the carrier and see if we can get her in there. Wish us luck!
