So we have a MK day on September 15. Its a 9am RD day and is open till 10. No EMM. I had planned a break in there but were staying at AKL and its just so far and will take so much time to just have a couple hours of down time, I would like to go back in the evening hoping the crowds aren't too bad after dinner. We wont be able to stay till 10 because our next morning is super early. But like I said I'd like to be there for a bit once it cools down some. Has anyone taken the monorail to one of those resorts to relax for a bit? Would there be enough to do? We have a ADR at CP at 12:00 so eating another meal somewhere isn't really an option as it would put us back in the park later than id want. I'd like to be back around 5ish? I was thinking maybe the Poly we could go get a dole whip but what else? Just sit around in the lobby lol.

2. Would there be enough to do? .
1. Sure. Many, many times.
2. There's really not a lot to "do" at a resort.
I can tell you that the Grand Floridian offers live music (a solo pianist, and a small "dance orchestra") every late afternoon into the evening. Very sedate and relaxing kind of music, if that's something that interests you.

We spent a couple hours at the Contemporary a few weeks ago trying to kill time in the late morning/early afternoon. We were staying at GF so we just hopped on the monorail. We played in the arcade for about an hour. I bought one $20 arcade card and we only used up about half the points (we came back later in the week and returned home with points still remaining on the card...talk about a good value!)

After the arcade, we looked around the shops and bought some treats at BVG (they have a bakery/candy counter in there.)

My kids then made a bunch of pressed pennies at the bank of machines near the escalators. We then rode back to GF and had lunch at Gasparilla's.

On another day, we rode to Poly and had lunch at Capt Cook's and Dole Whips at the stand there. Also browsed in those shops.

The GF has a LOT of shops to browse in but not much to "do" onsite for kids if you are not staying there.

Boats can be rented at all three MK resorts. Those are fun but you get pretty hot out on the water so its not really a "break."

What is the BVG? Arcade sounds like a good idea. Im sure all the resorts have them right? I was thinking about getting a dole whip at the poly. My daughter loves the coin machines. Where did you say those were what hotel? Im guessing they all have them. Yeah riding the boats wouldn't be a break. We need to get out of the sun for a bit. Our kids are 7 and 4.

The Poly lobby is actually a really nice place to hang out. My DS also loves the CR lobby. They have big chairs you can sit on and watch Disney cartoons. GF is nice, too! I like any place I can sit in the air conditioning!

BVG is "Bay View Gifts", the main gift shop.

The arcade at Contemporary is HUGE. It is the best one on property. The "arcade" at GF was just sad. It was literally a dark room with about 5 machines, half of which were broken, which is why we went to the Contemporary.

Contemporary also has several penny machines. Never saw one at either Poly or GF...

Oh, all the monorail resorts have a kids corner in the lobby with small chairs and a TV playing cartoons.

Ok thanks!! These are all good ideas. I mean I think just going somewhere inside getting a snack, playing so games, relaxing would be good. Even for an hour or so. I remember the arcade being huge at Contemporary when we stayed there. I def am going to miss the walk to MK thats for sure. AKL is so far ha. But I'm so excited to stay there and my kids will flip out when we tell them in 20 days!!!

GF pressed coin machines are in the hallway outside the restrooms going to 1900 Park Fare. They are Ciderella's mice and Prince and Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Oh fun I'll have to remember that when we go to dinner at 1900 :)
I was just in there Monday night with my daughter begging for coin. Only reason I know. There is a quarter machine there too but she knows better so I never looked at it.

I'm making sure I take a baggy of coins on this trip! My girl loves the machines!!!

M&M containers. Stack them two quarters and a penny. And get yourself a pressed penny list so you can get complete sets. For example only 1 of the 6 Alice in Wonderlands is at GF. Three are at All Stars and two at POR. All the series are like that.

That is what I'm not sure about. We could get a snack or treat but not sure what else?

As @Robo said, there is not a lot to "do" at a resort. Eat. Shop. Walk the grounds. Sit in the lobby. Maybe an arcade depending where you go. That's about it.

You could just go on Carousel of Progress for a mid-afternoon break in air-conditioned comfort. and Philharmagic. Or meet Mickey in Town Square. There are some indoor airconditioned bits at MK that work as a break, especially Carousel of progress.
