I read someone else's post about going to DW the 2nd week of Dec. but how about the first week? Thanksgiving comes really early this year so there is that week at the end of Nov. too.

I know there is some big cheerleading competition at the beginning of Dec. So far I can't find any dates listed for it. They also tape the Christmas parade during that week but I don't think that will bother us.

We're planning to stay at the Poly so I don't think the cheerleaders will be there but what about in the parks?

I appreciate any information you can give. We may just go in Sept. instead if that's a really bad week.

Avoid the tapping of the christmas show at MK and you will love this time. Have a great vacation.

We have gone the first week of Dec. several times. Do not pass up the first week of Dec. in our opinion. Just make sure you are ready to do the parks early. The Dec. season is not to be missed.:thumbsup2

The cheerleaders are all over! But, it's not that crowded in the parks. It's also a nice time to go because they have all the christmas decor up.We like to go to all the resorts to get them out!

We always go that week. In the past we stayed at the values. We'd see the cheerleaders on our way to the food court in th morning. Some would be in there eating. Sometimes they ran around in the food court but that was just about our biggest problem with them. I saw them once practicing in the grass outside on one trip. Never saw them at the parks.

Also never seemed to have ran into them taping the Christmas parade.

That time of year is great!! Hope you decide to enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm hoping to talk DH into going both in Sept. and in Dec! Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?:thumbsup2

Last year (2006) the Pop Warner Superbowl and National Cheer and Dance championships were December 3-9, 2006. Here's the info from last year:

Pop Warner Super Bowl, National Cheer & Dance Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex will host the Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer & Dance Championships, Dec. 3-9.

The Pop Warner Super Bowl kicks off the week on the Hess Sports Fields as 64 teams from across the country compete for championship trophies in eight divisions. Meanwhile, more than 300 cheer and dance squads will compete for the 2006 National Cheer & Dance Championships in The Milk House.

:cheer2:

It is absolutely busier than it used to be - and the resorts do fill up pretty well, due to in part to the Pop Warner groups.

But it is still a GREAT time to come. I stayed on property both this past year and the last. It's not deserted (as it used to be), not packed - it's moderate, in my opinion. But even if someone could only come over Christmas, I'd not tell them to stay away. I was at Epcot and MGM on December 30th for the day, and had a great time.

I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to visit during December however that being said we do try to avoid Pop Warner week.
