Hi - I've been lurking around the board for a couple weeks now and have been trying to finalize plans for a Disney trip in September. Y'all seem like a helpful bunch.

We're trying to decide which week to go - the first week or second week. What are the crowds like during those times??

I thought I'd do a search but that feature isn't working for me so sorry if this has been asked a million times before.

We have been in May and February but never in the fall. Any ideas, tips, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

-----Angie

PS - I just got my unofficial guide book and Disney with Kids book in the mail - the trips still 3 months away but I'm already getting anxious! :D

i would go the second week -- i'd guess the first week might be more crowded b/c of labor day. :)

Actually we went in September of 2000 over Labor Day week (including Labor Day) and crowds were non-existent. I think whichever week you choose will be equally fine.....people generally do not want to take their children out of school that quick after it has started. You will LOVE September whichever week you choose. Oh - but it is still HOT!!

That is what I was hoping to hear - low crowds for Labor Day.

My brother-in-law and his family are trying to decide if they are coming with us and the only week they can go is the first one. We had previously planned for the 2nd week and will still probably go then if they decide not to go along.

I'm from Illinois and I doubt the heat, humidity and afternoon rain showers will bother me too much we deal with that all summer.

One good thing about Labor Day is that if you work in a job that you are off anyway it's one less vacation day you have to take! We are going this year that week - we'll be there 8/30 - 9/6 - we are driving so that day we save we end up using the Friday before....but only because we wanted to get every minute we possibly could out of the fairy tale package :D

We are also driving but our travel party includes 10 people (me and my husband and 2 kids, my mother and her friend, my mother and fatherinlaw, and my husbands aunt and uncle) . If my brother-in-laws 4 person family goes we'll have 14. We intend to rent a 7 bedroom home off property.

Should be an interesting trip with all those people.

Yep - it'll be interesting. But you can't ask for much more than spending time with family at Disney World. I hope you all have a great time:D

I was there September 18-23 last year and it was HOT, HOT, HOT!!! but there were no crowds. This year, trying late September so just maybe the heat wouldn't be as bad but I doubt it. It's actually the humidity that's awful, I can handle heat, I live in Texas, it's the humidity that is hard to take but almost anything is worth no crowds, lines, etc.

We have been going the 2nd full week of September for the last four years. It is usually hot & humid with some rain showers. Most of the rides are walk-ons which is great. I think the longest we have had to wait for any ride might have been 10 minutes. We will be going again this year in September too.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Last year, we went to the Magic Kingdom the day after Labor Day. We were completely finished with the park by 3pm, having ridden all the "big" rides and most of the other ones, rode several rides multiple times, AND having stood in line for several character greets. The heat was oppressive, but being Floridians, we'll take the heat ANY DAY in exchange for non-existant crowds.

Well, you can check out my September trip report by clicking on the banner below. We went last year and had a great time and virtually no crowds. We had such a great time in September - that when the fairltale package was announced, we decided to go back this Sept. 13 - 20th.

Just a quick note (and I was going to post a thread about this), but my girlfriends sister is a travel agent (and the person that books our trips). We checked today about adding a second room to our trip this year to ASMo - and were told that ASMo is now "wait listed", which means that reservations are not guaranteed - and that when you try to book - you won't find out if your confirmed for two business days. This obviously means that the "Fairytale Package" is bringing the folks in - and filling up the resorts. So don't wait too long to book.

Do you think the crowds will pick up all that much due to the special packages? I would not have even known about it had I not stumbled onto this website while surfing for Disney travel tips.
