We are planning a visit to DL in late June (probably arriving around June 21 and leaving the 30th). What do you think crowds will be like at this time? Also, has anyone stayed at the Hawthorne Suites Ltd? Is this within walking distance? We are thinking of booking a Good Neighbor package through AAA. Any advice and experience are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

That's just after the CA schools get out; it will be more crowded than a few weeks earlier, but not as crowded as in July or August, most likely. June weather is notoriously unpredictable; several of the past few years, "June gloom" has stayed around through the end of the month, which doesn't necessarily add up to a sunny vacation but is actually much nicer than full-blast summer heat.

I recommend getting an ART pass for roundtrip transportation to the DL Resort from your hotel. We should be in full June Gloom by that time, which means cool mornings, very warm afternoons, and cool evenings - so wear layers.

Crowds will be moderate, but not heavy for the most part. I think you'll be there after the Grad Night period, but you may run into a couple of early closings if there are any Grad Nights still being held.

Hawthorn Suites is a bit of a ride away and I have read mixed reviews.. if you want walking distance (or very short ART bus trip) try to book at Candy Cane Inn, Howard Johnson's, or even at the West Coast Anaheim (which I believe has a deal thru AAA for one night free- depends on when that program is running).

Personally, I find better deals by booking each piece seperately.
Passes thru AAA or thru Disney web site, hotel by looking for deals on the web (or Entertainment card rate, or even Priceline).

So school is still in at the first part of June? Would that be a better time to go then?
Also, are the grad nights usually on weekend nights like friday and saturday.

We are thinking of going in June or July as well, but would be there mid week.

Thanks!
We havent been to Disney LAND in 10 years! and looking forward to it!

We stayed at the Hawthorne. Didn't seem like walking distance but then again I look for the parking space closest to the entrance.;) The room we got when we arrived was horrible. It smelled like someone smoked a pack of smokes before we got there. The second room was fine. Roomier than a standard room but a little small compared to other suites. Breakfast they had was great. Bus service was fine. If you already have AAA look into how much a Disney resort would be. I think if you book through AAA and stay on-site you can get the unlimited fastfasses. That might be worth it in the summer.

Maci,
Yes, school is in session until about mid-June here. That is why grad nights are very popular the first part of the month. But it is true that crowds are low compared to July/August and the weather is very mild. I think June is a good choice, just MHO.
As far as accomodations, I would go for HoJo's or Candy Cane. The closer the better. It adds to the whole vaca ambiance.:D

Thanks so much for your reply!

I think we will go for June, now just trying to decided between the week of the 13th or the 20th!

We will be there during the week, so I want to be sure there will be a fantasmic showing.
I looked up the 2 hotels you suggested and think I will try the Candy Cane, it looks very cute!
Thanks so much for your help!
Maci
