Visa SPD & room only for beginning of 2015 are out!

I called back last night and got the same quote for room only at POR. As others have said the cheapest room they had was Garden View. So when I re-run the number it is a 23% savings - sounds right. I'm still hoping to find something cheaper once it goes to GP and I can hunt online. But I did book it. pixiedust:

The discount is taken off the room rate before taxes. The tax rate is approximately 12.5%.

Our discount was taken off the rates listed on mousesavers.com which include taxes.

Without discount including tax total = $1,291.
With discount including total = $996 and change.

We had 1 night at Regular season rates, 4 at Peak season, and 2 were weekend rates so the discount averaged out to be about 23%.

So is SPD basically about a $40 per night savings for each adult? I know you cannot use RO if you arrive too early for the discount and have to book different reservations but what about SPD? If I arrive on 1/2 or 1/3, can I apply SPD to the reservation?

This SPD offer is for arrivals starting January 5, so no, you can't apply SPD with an arrival on January 2 or 3.

why am i seeing such a huge discrepancy in savings? I see some people saving over $1000 and some only saving $100 - what's up with that?

There's so many variations in dates, rates, resorts, guest numbers, dining plans, etc. etc., I think you really can only focus on your own plan and if a discount offer works for you.

The room only discount for deluxe resorts tends to be a big savings. Our daughter is saving $809 for a seven night stay with 30% discount at the WL, which is $115.57 per night. We are saving $574.09 for a five night stay.

I've seen a few comments on this now but there should be no difference if the discount is taken off "before" or "after" taxes.

For Example:

Room Rate $200 + Taxes 12.5% = $225

25% Discount on Room Rate ($200) w/out tax = $150 + Taxes 12.5% = $168.75

25% Discount on Room Rate ($225) w/ Tax = $168.75

No matter how you do the math you will come to the same answer.

Well that clears that up, thanks! :thumbsup2

I had a WL dining 4 day park hopper package in February booked for $5600ish, and could book a 7 day WL package with 6 day park hopper and regular dining plan for $4768. A little over $800 savings. However, we went with room only military discount :)

Good luck to everyone trying to get their resorts!

how did she get WL for 115$ per night? i'll be trying to book for WL on Thursday morning and this price would be awesome

Ya, something doesn't sound right there. Now that is what I will be paying at a room at POR before taxes, with a TA, not Disney.

Maybe it was a misprint? The cheapest room rate at WL is $325 minus 30% would be $227.50 a night. :confused3

oops, was posting at same time MichiganKris was with the explanation. :)

I am pretty sure she was saying that the $115 was the amount of the discount taken off of each night not the actual cost of the room!

Would I then have to make 2 reservations or would they just apply it to the eligible dates?

we don't have a disney visa - so waiting on the gp offer.
Does anyone know if the Contemporary is excluded from the room only discount & if not what the % off is for there and the % off for standard rooms at AKL?
Thanks & hope everyone is able to get what they want & save some $$$!! :goodvibes
