VISA Gift Card

Has anyone used VISA's gift card?

I take it that if Disney's credit card is by VISA then the gift card should be allowed anywhere in WDW. I'm really considering getting one to avoid the hassle of signing traverler's checks.

I read somewhere the rolling snack carts now have card readers.

I got mine but haven't used it. It said it was only good at the Disney store and my Disney store closed. Just haven' bothered ording anything online yet. But I will.

If you are wondering about a visa gift card where that you purchase for a certain denomination, I would check out www.visa.com . They list all the bank that sell these cards and list the fees associated. It may or may not be better for you than travelers checks. I work as a customer service rep for these type of cards and I know that they are accepted anywhere Visa is accepted. The only exception is pay at the pump. Most of the cards won't work there.

We used the VISA gift cards (basically a debit card) during our trip a couple of weeks ago. Even most kiosks take them now. We had a bunch of kids & even the 9 year old had one (although one CM at WOD thought this 9 year old had her own credit card! The only thing is to keep track of how much you have left. As near as I can tell, if there's not enough on the card it will deny -- they can't do a partial purchase (like split cash/debit) -- it needs to be able to approve for the full amount.

I found out I can cash my traveler's checks at the front desk of Pop and use my room key aka "Key to the World" for purchasing, etc..

I'm not going off WDW property so that will work out just fine.
