I just received my $500 Disney Gift Card & realized that it is a Debit Card. Being from Canada, I have no idea how this works & I also don't think I can even use this in Canada. It was our intention to use this for our DDP on our next trip, is that possible? Should I know anything about how to use these cards? Thanks. :)

Don't worry...you can use it. It is a preloaded card and is used just like a visa card...read the instructions that came with it - it explains everything.

How long did it take you to receive your card? We sent in our paper work in on September 9 and our estimated closing date was October 9 and we're still waiting. So, I'm just curious how long it took. Thanks!

I just received mine today via Fed Ex delivery in a large envelope. I was required to sign for it.

We purchased on Sept 20 and closed on Nov 1.

We received it today & our closing date was Sept 29, although we were neglectful at sending in our signed documents so I'm not sure when exactly we closed. I hope that helps. I have a sneaking suspicion that they do them in group mailings so I wouldn't be surprised if you see yours shortly. :)

They must be sending them out in batches, when I came home from work today there was a notice from fedex for a package I have to sign for. I did my add on on September 16 w/ estimated closing of October 16, closing was actually 10/10.

Its a Visa Debit card simply because they preload a cash amount onto it vs. giving you a credit card with a $500 spending limit. The gift cards will arrive via Fedex and the PIN numbers to activate them should come via postal mail. You should be able to use them anywhere that Visa is accepted, they work just like a credit card transaction.

We used our 2 $500 Visa gift cards from our AKV add-on to pay for all our rooms charges when we went in October. We charged everything (food, souvenirs, shopping, etc) back to the room that week and our remaining balance at checkout after the gift cards was $7.38. Definitely the cheapest we have ever paid (or ever will again) at Disney and extremely nice bonus to our stay.
