Does anyone know if you can use Visa Electron in US? I'd rather know I'm spending money that I actually have rather than going mad with the ordinary Visa!

We certainly never noticed if we could use it when we were there in feb.

But american thingy.......oh forgotten the name but aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
american express have introduced a card where instead of using travellers cheques you can transfer amounts on to your card and use it in the same way as the card but obviously it has your travellers cheque amount on it.
it was our local lunn poly that told us about it. at the time you had to put a minimum amount on it but i think they are doing a promotion at the moment.

hope this helps.

My partner has a visa electron you can use it at ATM machines to withdraw money - with a 1.5% to 2.5% charge depending on whose cash machine you use.

Not sure if you can swipe for purchases, check out your bank's website for information :flower:

dh has said that there is a ride at epcot which is sponosred by visa electron and there was a park where you could use it. but also check with your bank they should be able to let you know.

Each card is usually £20 but they're giving one per family away free at the moment. Have to load a minimum of £200 to start using another amex card.

Sounds like a really good idea - the one thing about it though is that you have to take the exchange rate that's prevailant when you travel I suppose, rather than if you bought travellers cheques now and got today's rate.

I do like the idea of it though as I was goingt o use my credit card which has associated charges for international use - but then this may have too - must read the small print :0)

Edit: Hmm also says only valid where AMEX is - which I suppose in the states is a lot more places than here (I have an amex card and can hardly use it here in England!)

Also get this - the link to the small print is broken so I can't see what the transaction and exchange rate charges are! Anyone know?
