I was "pre-selected" to receive this credit card - why? I have no idea. It has an annual fee of $495.00 & appears to be exclusive - no thanks, I will stick with my Disney Visa, Mastercard & Discover. Does anyone know any thing about this - is it being mass marketed & they are just trying to make it appear exclusive with the wording?:confused3

We got one of those last month. I wasn't interested, so I just shredded it. $495 yearly fee? What kind of drugs are they on?:lmao::lmao:

The Visa Black Card is somewhat exclusive and does come with benefits that some might really like, but it's no Centurion Card.

It used to be much more "exclusive" than it is now. I got the offer yesterday, a friend got one last week, and there was a post on here earlier this week where others on here got them as well. People from all walks of life, income levels, etc. I work in retail & see them almost daily, whereas it used to be quite rare to get one. My guess is that now anyone can pay $495 a year to get one!

WAit I just re-read this - I'm talking about the Amex Black card, not the VISA one...I guess they're all coming out now trying to "buy exclusivity!"

I think they've been taking their lettuce to buy some nickels and dimes so they can worship the Green Goddess???

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl:Or maybe they've to converted the lettuce to diamonds????:rotfl::rotfl:

DH and I laughed when his application came in the mail. $495.00???
We never pay a cent in fees for for our credit cards. ;)
Anyway, he already has a travel concierge--me.
We'll pass on helping Visa's bottom line.

It went in the shredder. We have lots of things we can do with $500.00 at WDW.

The Amex black card (Centurion Card) has an annual fee of $2500, a one time fee of $5000, and a MINIMUM spending amount of $250,000. It is much more exclusive than the VISA card.

I don't think you see true Amex black cards around town. I've worked a lot of retail and I've never had one given to me and I can think of a few 'rich' people I've delt with.

I do however, I have a funny story about one. I have a friend who has a black card. Several years ago we were out to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant in San Antonio.

He offered to pay and pulled out the black card. Having never seen one the waiter is confused if it is 'real.' There was a huge language barrier when trying to explain that it was just a 'different' american express and to run it as as an Amex.

After awhile the waiter took the card to the manager who refused to give it back, calling it a fake. He was insistent we were trying to rip him off.

Someone else ended up paying by a more traditional method and our friend did end up getting his card back but we still laugh about it.

"Not having to pay for your dinner, just one more benefit of the AMEX Black Card."

Then I'm confused - my offer must have been for VISA Black, not AMEX Black. I assumed it was Amex because the other thread on here was discussing AMEX so I had that in my head...but I think they were mistaken as well - because they also mentioned the $495...not $2500....mine's still in the trash...gotta go dig it out now! Must be VISA blacks I'm seeing at work, just thinking it's Amex.....

I got one as well a while ago. While we do have excellent credit we are just an average middle class family. I looked it up and it really isn't all that exclusive apparently. They are trying to market it like the Amex Black but it really is more along the level of Amex Platinum. People have been reporting lower credit limits (not a charge card) than other Visa cards. They do give you some concierge services but I doubt that would be worth the $500/yr.

The Black AMEX card fee is $2500 not $495
