Virus question

I last ran a virus scan on 4/28...well all of these odd things were popping up...mostly saying spyware has been detected. Well I ran a scan a little while ago and found 25 viruses and 117 potentially unwanted files. Most of the unwanted were "clear search" and "adware". So I deleted everything. As soon as I opened IE again there was another popup about adware and spyware. So obviously I have a problem. I have McAfee. Suggestions?

You need a spyware program. Try Spybot or Adaware. Both work well, and will detect different things, so download and run both of them. You can just get the free downloads. (If you can find them by using a www.spybot.com or www.adaware.com, do a search.)
Once they are deleted you will find your computer may run much faster.

I tried to find spybot (and couldn't) and the other was $30. Is spyware not part of the normal virus protection?

on the Adaware site, look for the Free download button (I seem to remember it was near the bottom, in the middle.)

Who knew? I thought you paid McAfee every year, turned on the computer and had fun. I installed many of the things ya'll recommended, did the updates and am running a new virus scan. I will yell (and cry) if more problems pop up. Thanks!!! Ya'll are the best!
