Virtual Valentine's Day 5k and 10k - If interested please post

Good Morning Virtual Valentine's Day racers!! I am up and waiting to for the sun to come up (and my nose to stop being stuffy - normal morning lately for me!!) Its chilly here this morning - ok sorry not as cold as others but for me 40 degrees is a little cold. I do have my clothes ready to go - gonna wear my Goofy tech shirt and my running tights - I know not very Valentiney but oh well - I want to wear my Goofy shirt for a run and I won't have too many other opportunities this year. Another thing making me wait is that they are imploding a building in the West Palm Beach area at 9AM and will be showing it on TV and of course I want to see it. So my 10k race may start after 9AM this morning.

Good luck everyone. Can't wait to hear everyone report.

CAn't say I'm looking forward to tomorrow's virtual 5K. Looks like I'll have to do it on the treadmill, since the streets here are still snow and ice patches. I hate the treadmill! :scared1: Oh well, gotta get it done. I'll post when I'm done.

Terri

I know how you feel! I had to do my run Thursday on a treadmill...never again. Have you tried Yak Trakz (or similar) in the ice; they are a little weird to run in but at least you can be outside!

I haven't figured out what route I'll take for my 10k today, the snow is limiting my acess to my favorite places :(. I'll post when I'm done.

Just returned from my virtual 5K with a time of 27:44. The crowds were electric and the support was so inspirational.

Also, I recommend my virtual 5K course, The highlights were a run through the haunted mansion and a loop of the TTA before finishing on the tomorrowland speedway.

I'm done! 5K in 34:10. Which is actually a good time for me since I've only run twice since the Disney Half! :) Boy did it feel GREAT to get out there in the morning sun and run!! :sunny:

So Tricia, you can switch me from the 10K list to the 5K list. I could have gone for the 10K but I thought I'd better not push it. Thanks so much for planning this, these virtual races are really fun. :)

I finished! I just started "running" four weeks ago and recently finished week 3 of the Couch to 5K program. The longest distance I had completed before today was barely 2 miles. The longest total amount of time I'd run during each workout was 9 minutes. I think I easily doubled that today. :cool1: I stuck with mostly a 1:1 ratio of walk/run intervals with some extra walks thrown in. I'm really proud of what I did today. I jokingly said I hoped to keep my time under an hour, but in reality I was hoping for closer to 45 minutes. ;)

My time was 48:32. :thumbsup2

I just did my 10k on the tread mill, the most I have ever done on it, as I hate it so much.
I had to pull out of the marathon today as I need to save for Boston.

10K in 39:49.

My virtual 10k is done. Not much of a crowd this morning: only 2 deers wondering what I was doing at 8:00 AM :upsidedow. It was snowing lightly and I was wearing my Donald l/s and my W.I.S.H. hat. Time of 73:50.
And I just registered for the half-marathon in Ottawa for the end of May :cool1:
Thanks for organizing the 2010 virtual Valentine race
Have a nice Valentine day.

Diane

10k in 1hr 11min. I ended up doing laps around the neighborhood, to many uphills for my liking but the paths are all under a foot of snow.

Dropped to 5K today due to some knee issues, but was nice cuz DH came. He hasnt run since marathon weekend so 5K was good for him too. We drove out to Longboat Key and ran the road with Sarasota Bay on one side, the Gulf on the other. Of course, that meant it was a bit windy and chilly! We took it slow and had fun with it.

5K in 39:00 even!

I'm done, 10K in 1:36:43, on the treadmill

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

I ended doing 10k today, instead of the 5 that I think I had put down. 54 minutes. I actually felt pretty good. The time and distance might be a little off, but so what (I don't trust MapMyRun for accuracy!) Mostly clear roads with some slop on the sidewalks (where people didn't clear off their snow like they're supposed to!)

Maura

Due to some scheduling issues, I dropped down to the 5K distance and ran it on the gym treadmill in 38:24.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Congrats on getting out there today and putting in those miles! :thumbsup2

Got my 10K in at 1:11 - definitely not my best time by any stretch. But I had just run 15 miles yesterday so I wasn't expecting much. I hit a couple of hill too with snowy sidewalks. Snow and uphill running just don't mix :rotfl:

Maura - Same situation here. I ended up running on the roads mostly because there were stretches of sidewalks that hadn't been cleared. We only got a little bit of snow so I don't understand why people won't shovel when it's so easy :confused3

Another set of finishers checking in....

I did my 10K in 1:31, DS (Sarah) in 1:19 (yep, she's faster than me!)

IT WAS FUN!!!!!!

Thank you for organizing this event! :worship:

It is the ONLY reason I put in steps today. Since it is crud out there I did 10k on that durned TM. It took me 93 minutes and I'm actually glad to have done it. That's just under a 15 min mile and I'm good with this.

Congratulations to all participants and Happy Valentine's day!

Our 5K time for today is 38 minutes 29 seconds.
The weather did not want to cooperate today! It was 32 degrees, "real feel" 17 with winds at 21 mph. Not our best run but it was good to get out~better than sitting home eating chocolates!
Thanks for organizing this!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Chccking in...

Up this morning for my 12 miles (training miles for Princess half)

Left the house at 7am, it was 44 degrees with a "feels like" of 40 in Southeast Florida. That called for running tights, L/S Tech shirt the S/S Tech shirt over that, gloves, bondiband and visor. Worked out pretty good. Gloves when on and off and on and off, depending on if I was in the direct sun or in the shade.

And of course some photos...

The 6 mile turnaround (for my 12 miles) Not the best self portrait but I was trying to include the water fountain in the background.

For those that think the leaves don't change color or fall off in Southeast Florida, here is proof.

Another waterfall feature I pass on my route.

THANKS Tricia for putting this together!!!

Congratulations to everyone who "got er done!"

I did my 5K today...38'12".

It was a bit of a troublesome run but I did it! I am now going to call myself a runner! :rotfl:

Did a 5K today is Sea Isle NJ with 4 friends and a field of about 300 other runners. Low 30's at the start along a snow covered beach on the boardwalk. I managed a PR of 31:28 and had a great time.

I'll try to post a photo (still learning how to do that)
