I know that for now Disney only has RotR as a virtual queue ride. But can someone please answer some questions, if the answers even exist yet?

1. Do I really have to physically be IN the park before I can enter the virtual queue?

2. If they make multiple attractions a virtual queue experience how many virtual queues can I sign up for at once?

3. For those that have recently used the virtual queue, how easy was it and did you try it later in the day and still get on the ride?

1. not for RotR at this time. you can get the 7:00 vq from anywhere in the world, and for the 1:00, you must have tapped into DHS that day at some point prior, but you can get the VQ from anywhere once youve tapped in (i.e. - leave and take skyliner to riviera for lunch, or back at you hotel, etc.).

2. no one knows, but if Disneyland is any indication, 1 VQ at a time.

3. easy, but you have about 1-2 seconds to get in, so go to the Star Wars thread and read post 1. It is even easier to get into the 1:00 since many have already gotten the BG at 7:00 and there is less competition. so long as the ride is performing, you will get to ride anywhere between 2:00 and park close.

Thank you. I prefer the old FP+ system. This sounds far too hectic and stressful. The original FP system was a joke. I would regularly see people get in line to get the paper FPs and the CMs would be there handing them out. There would be couples (just two people in their party) asking for 8-10 FPs. And the CM would give them to them. o_O This virtual queue thing sounds like a nightmare.

Pro tip......do not use Disney Wifi.....make sure you have good cell strength, and clear out any open apps on your device. Have your app open to the join virtual queue page, and be ready to hit the button the moment it goes from 6:59 to 7:00am.

And only 1 person in your party should be trying. Multiple people trying with just throw things off.

This is incorrect

sorry...but it is correct. multiple requests from the same account to change a relational database is just going to create multiple queries where the one with the latest time stamp over rules the older one. You are essentially reducing your chances by if multiple people are trying.

Sorry...applications like this are what I do.

Then you are giving advice that goes against hundreds of first hand accounts and experiences that would disagree with you. Not to mention this goes against direct information listed on the official thread for Rise Virtual Ques

I've seen videos of multiple people in the same party trying to get into the queue at 7am and it did not seem to cause a problem. However, this is not an issue for us as my next trip will be me, my wife, and my son. My wife hates technology and wouldn't do this if I asked her and my son could care less. So it will be just me. I only hope that it will be the "anywhere" option so I do not have to be in the park to do this. Trying to get my family to rope drop is a nightmare.

Just commenting on technical design of how a system like this works. I am not disagreeing that some people may have had success hitting it with multiple change requests. But at some point, requests start queuing, and as one gets in, a second or thread will come in after and essentially knock the 1st one in line out of the line.

My wife and I both did this at the same time for the 2 days we went to HS. No issues as also reported by many reports.
Maybe its not using a relational database?

Yes and No. For the 7 am, you only need a park pass to be able to try and get a boarding group. You do not need to be in the park. For the 1 pm, you must be in the park.

2. If they make multiple attractions a virtual queue experience how many virtual queues can I sign up for at once?
Nobody knows as of yet.

3. For those that have recently used the virtual queue, how easy was it and did you try it later in the day and still get on the ride?
We went 2 for 2. We followed the common threads.
Clear you cache, memory and clean up your storage. Turn off wifi. make sure everyone is listed in your MDE family and friends.
Open the app. Watch very closely. As soon as the phone shows 7, click join, join, join. Do not read any screens, do not make any changes to your groups.
The boarding groups will fill in under 10 seconds, so wasting time at any of those steps will cause you to miss out.

Clarification: for the 1 pm attempt to get a boarding group, you must have entered Hollywood Studios at some point in the day, prior to 1 pm. Say you went in the morning but went back to your room/Disney Springs/whatever for lunch, you can try for your boarding group from anywhere else at 1 pm. You do not have to physically be inside of HS at 1 pm.

1. For the 7 am queue, no, you can do that from a hotel or your home. For the 1 pm, you need to check into the park first, but can then make it from elsewhere on property.

2. Probably just 1.

3. It's definitely not easy, you need to be on your phone at the exact right time. Even seconds later and you'll miss the window. I'm 1 for 2 on the 7 am window and 1 for 1 on the 1 pm window.

If you don't get in at 7am, have your son try at 1pm. I was the only one awake at 7am and didn't get it. We all tried at 1pm in Hollywood studios and DD17 got it first, without ever practicing before. Teens are just so much faster on their phones. :rotfl2:

Just to OP's question, when you say you will try "later in the day" the only options are 7am and 1pm. It is not like Universal or even the old Fastpass system where you may see virtual queue availability pop up at random times. If you don't try at exactly 7am or exactly 1pm, you won't get it.

I also don't want to sugar coat it, there are large number of people who try at both drop times without success. It is very hit or miss and there are no guarantees.

For Florida we just have this system for rise (but I fully expect it for ratatouille and most new attractions moving forward if web slingers in DCL is any indication)

7am you can get wherever so long as you have a park pass
1pm you can get from wherever HOWEVER you must of tapped into studios at some point prior

I cannot go to WDW and not ride this at least once. It may be the last time I get a chance for a very long time. I will try to 7am every single day, even if I am not planning on going to DHS that day. I can adjust my schedule if need be.

Keep in mind that you must have a park reservation for DHS to try for a boarding group. You could make park reservations for every day of your trip, but you risk not being able to change your park reservation to another park as they may (will likely) be full.
It’s best to practice, practice, practice before your trip so you know what to expect!
